JOB SUMMARY:

The Governance Manager holds a pivotal role in our client's strategic initiatives, collaborating closely with leadership to implement and manage effective governance strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing key processes, standardizing data practices, and ensuring compliance with policies. The role requires strong communication and analytical skills, as well as the ability to navigate complex business relationships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and execute the roadmap for Data Governance in partnership with the Director of Data Governance.
  • Work closely with the Director of Data & Analytics on Data Management, Security, Quality, Governance Committee setup, and other related areas.
  • Lead the development and management of the Data catalog to ensure standardization and one source of truth.
  • Identify and build the Data Governance Committee, including Data Owners and Stewards, and establish RACI for each role.
  • Create documentation and succession plans for Data Stewards across business streams.
  • Formulate a strategy for training business users on data access and utilization, cross-training Business Analysts, and acting as a gatekeeper for business requests.
  • Mentor and train Business Analysts on requirements processes and key business functions.
  • Manage source systems for analytics and act as a liaison between Business and Technology for Data & Analytics.
  • Develop strong partnerships with business and technology leadership.
  • Handle consumer and customer data responsibly, following applicable policies and procedures.
  • Review and adhere to data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5-8+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across different streams and organizational structures.
  • Previous experience in Data Governance Implementation as a functional lead or project manager.
  • Excellent communication skills, including breaking down complex requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of complex business processes.
  • Ability to align diverse stakeholders, navigate business relationships, and achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Thorough understanding of the Data Governance life cycle.
  • Experience mapping business functions to data artifacts.
  • Managing initiatives across business transformation.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
