Supports Project Managers to ensure delivery of transportation and highway design projects within the required timeline and budget. Performs complex design and geometric analyses on highway engineering projects using MicroStation, Geopak, InRoads and/or OpenRoads in accordance with the accepted design practice as well as local, state, and federal requirements, Documents all design work including memos, drawings, sketches, calculations, or tabulations for the quality assurance reviews of work performed by staff. Utilizes value engineering, optimization and judgement from previous experience as well as contributions from others throughout design process to accomplish goals. Directs and reviews production of drawings by CAD technicians, Design Engineers and Project Engineers. Works closely with subconsultants and other company departments. Attends project meetings both internally and with clients. Continually develops personal knowledge of engineering and construction best practices and standards by leveraging job experience and attending continuing education training. Key Qualifications:

B.S. in Civil Engineering and a minimum 10 years of civil design experience in the transportation industry. PE license preferred. Extensive project experience working with IDOT and Tollway and their policies and procedures. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Extensive knowledge of MicroStation, Geopak, InRoads and/or OpenRoads. Valid driver’s license required. Our staff of over 200 consists of experienced and responsive professionals who provide engineering, surveying and environmental services on a personal level. Our staff includes 76 employees with over 20 years of service. The Civil Design Group focuses on a wide range of projects including roadway, utility, stormwater, bike paths, and pedestrian facilities for municipalities, IDOT, Tollway, and various counties. CBBEL is the premier full-service civil engineering firm in the Chicagoland area, representing over 25 communities as the main Village Engineer as well as servicing over 100 additional local municipalities.
