Position Description
Pioneer Technical Services is currently looking for an entry level Civil/Environmental Engineer to work out of our new Helena, MT office. We are looking for a dedicated and hard-working engineer to join our team that will assist our staff on civil and environmental projects throughout the western United States. Pioneer is a 100% employee-owned ESOP that was founded on the belief that the employees should manage their own future.
The position responsibilities encompass all aspects of civil and environmental engineering, including design and design reports, construction drawings, and technical specification development, construction oversight, surveying, environmental sampling and annual reporting requirements. . Our team uses historical site information and data collected to design prescriptive civil and remedial actions. Our projects typically revolve around legacy mine site remediation in the western United States. This employee will be required to complete temporary duties assignments outside of the Helena area and interact with project engineers and project managers in other Pioneer offices, The Staff Engineer works under the direct supervision of the Project Engineer or Project Managers as required for specific projects and is assigned to a Team Leader. The Staff Engineer is an entry level position requiring little or no experience. This individual will be required to have a valid driver's license and complete a background screening which includes a Motor Vehicle Report upon hire.

1. PROJECT AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Keep personal data updated to reflect current experience, training, registration and professional areas of expertise.
- Represent Pioneer Technical Services to clients and prospective clients in a professional manner at all times.
- Assist Project Engineer with scheduling of project tasks.
- Work closely with clients to develop client relationships.
- Executes specific tasks of the project assigned by the Project Engineer.
- Typical projects involve environmental remediation and/or civil project design tasks including stormwater, surface water, and mine waste excavation design.
- Keeps the Project Engineer fully informed of what is transpiring with his/her part of the project.
- Prepare task progress reports to keep the Project Engineer informed of the completion schedule and budget for each task.
- Attend project control sessions, as required.
- Participate in the firm's QA and QC program, performing project tasks in accordance with company policies and standards.
- Under the supervision of the Project Engineer, the Staff Engineer is responsible for oversight of construction activities to ensure design specifications are adhered to and deviations from approved practices are communicated to the Project Engineer.
- Project administration duties include maintaining task files documenting the history of involvement with the project.
- Monitor safety on the portion of the project assigned.
- Responsible for completion of the task assigned within budget and on schedule.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field REQUIRED.
Experience: 0-6 years
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required. Knowledge working with Office 365 and AutoCad Civil 3D is preferred.
Certifications and Licenses: Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred but not required.
