The Chattanooga Area Food Bank (CAFB) is seeking a team-oriented leader with the accounting and financial background to help carry forward its mission

to lead a network of partners in eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition. The person in this position will be responsible for helping with the financial reporting of the organization as well as supervising payables processing and daily accounting functions. This position reports to the CFO, and is primarily responsible for supporting the CAFB in carrying out its mission by insuring the timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions and reporting. The position will require access to sensitive and confidential information; discretion is required of the person in this role. Job

Responsibilities:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance functions of the organization. Primary responsibility is in the following areas: Management

Oversight of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Clerk Maintain and enforce documented system of accounting policies and procedures Ensure donations are correctly accounted for, working with Development Associate as needed Coordinate provision of information to external auditors for annual audits

Transactional

Accounts payable paid in a timely manner and that all funds used for grants are recorded and documentation provided where necessary Cash receipts balancing and daily control (including event receipts) Timely and accurate payroll processing Bank reconciliations for all bank accounts Other Balance Sheet reconciliations as requested Ensure accounting controls over payables, receivables, accruals, cash Complete credit applications as need Reporting Assist with annual budget preparation Assist with monthly preparation of financial package including accruals, recording transactions, and variance analysis Issue annual 1099s to vendors and file with IRS Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in accounting or equivalent business experience; Strong understanding of GAAP accounting Public or operational accounting experience preferred; Non-profit experience a plus High level of technology skills and proficient with Microsoft Excel High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and

attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communications skills This is a full-time salaried position with a competitive compensation package, including: vacation, sick leave, health, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability & 401K contribution match.
