Performs skilled professional work assisting County departments in the selection, purchase, repair, and maintenance of personal computers, networks, software, and other corresponding equipment. This is a highly skilled position, working under the general direction of the Information Systems and Telecommunications Manager.

Essential Job Duties

  • Setup and install Computer Hardware
  • Install Software
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot computer issues
  • Perform software and hardware upgrades
  • Maintain hardware and software by conducting regular maintenance and updates
  • Provide technical support to users
  • Create and maintain records of repairs and fixes
  • Train and collaborate with team members.
Typical Requirements

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED supplemented by at least three (3) years of experience working with computers and software. An associate degree in computer science may be substituted for two (2) years of the experience requirement.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • A+ or MCP certification preferred

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
  • Knowledge and technical training in computer and mobile device hardware, software, and associated components
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer operating systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) operating systems and principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Internet Protocol (IP) networking
  • Knowledge of Internet security and data privacy principles
  • Hardware, software, and mobile equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and association application software
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or similar software products (spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and database applications)
  • Ability to deal with fellow employees tactfully and courteously
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Organization and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
