Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in the financial management of the County’s Flood Control District; performs related work as assigned.

(Illustrative Only) Administers departmental accounting function Coordinates the financial management of programs, grants, and contracts Prepares cost projections and financial and administrative reports Participates in the preparation and administration of the FCD budget Participates and supports in internal and external audits Communicates and partners with vendors and state/federal agencies Manage and support annual financial reporting with state/federal agencies Support and provide finance information to FCD Communications team for public communications May be responsible to support payroll, accounts payable and purchasing May assist during Flood Emergency events in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: sitting, working with and around others; vision acuity (near) for working at a computer; working with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist); vision acuity (near/far) for computer input, etc.; hearing and speech for ordinary conversations; touch-finger dexterity for computer work. Associate degree in accounting, business administration or a related field and two years of increasingly responsible budget/accounting experience; OR; Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field and one year of increasingly responsible budget/accounting experience; OR; Three years

ideal candidate

will support Coconino County Flood Control District through understanding and processing of financial related tasks to support the District. They will have the ability to work independently and with various internal and external partners to manage, process and oversee the financial scope of the District which includes the District’s base budget as well as various federal and state awards/grants. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the County’s Munis Financial System to process financial data and invoices. They will be familiar with federal and state grant management processes including grant management software and websites such as SAM.gov, FEMAGo and other various federal and state websites. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication skills and will be able to understand basic accounting and forecasting principles. This position is non-exempt from overtime. This position is safety sensitive. Considerable knowledge of:

Governmental accounting practices, including purchasing and contract management Currently available automated accounting systems Principles and practices of office administration and management

Working knowledge of:

Grant development, administration and management Budgetary theory, principles, and practices

Skill in:

The operation of automated office equipment The use of computerized budget/financial tracking and reporting programs Researching and understanding state/federal grant financial reporting Performing and verifying mathematical computations

Ability to:

Prepare and maintain financial records Analyze complex situations and evaluate alternatives prior to making decisions Administer computerized accounting systems Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies/partners and the public Work effectively during emergency events Follow written and verbal instructions Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
