The Learning and Development (L&D) Director provides strategic leadership to the organization by d eveloping and implementing a comprehensive training and development strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.

As the L&D Director, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals enhance their skills and knowledge throughout their entire employee lifecycle, beginning with orientation and onboarding. This role will coordinate all L&D activities but will also partner with business managers, and members of the Organizational Effectiveness team (primarily HR and Employee Health and Wellness) to ascertain growth areas of greatest need or interest.
Strong communication skills are essential for effectively guiding employees through their learning journey. By providing training and development opportunities, you will contribute to our companys success and ensure that our employees are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in their roles today, and in the future.

Responsibilities
Evaluate individual and organizational development needs - collaborate with leadership to identify skill gaps and training needs.
Develop and implement a learning strategy and program that are aligned with the organizations objectives
Implement various learning methods companywide (e.g. coaching and mentoring, job-shadowing, online training, classroom training, on-the-job training)
Design and deliver inspirational and impactful e-learning courses, workshops and other learning initiatives.
Create and oversee creation of inclusive training modules and materials. Ensure content is current, relevant and engaging.
Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities. Gather feedback to improve programs.
Guide managers to develop their team members through career pathing support and train the trainer programs.
Oversee, and often contribute to the design of energizing leadership development programs that nurture and develop leaders within the organization. Provide coaching and support for leadership skills enhancement.
Hire and develop training/learning specialist team
Track budgets, negotiate contracts, build and maintain relationships with third-party training providers
Stay abreast of the latest developments in learning trends, changes in learning theory, and developments in learning technologies.
Ensure training programs comply with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards.

Requirements and skills

Proven experience as an L&D/Training Manager or Director,or related experience
Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods, able to design and produce relevant training materials including e-learning courses
Demonstrate affinity with employee learning and learning technologies
Experience in project management and budgeting
Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills
Strong business acumen
Ability to build rapport with employees and vendors
BSc/BA in Business, Psychology, Education or other relevant field
Professional certification (e.g. CPLP) is preferred
