Hours: 40 hours per week

Summary:

The Liturgy Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all Hispanic mass celebrations and ministries related to the mass.

Will coordinate, recruit, and facilitate training for volunteers involved in liturgical roles. Provides appropriate materials, training, and media for the parish liturgical roles. Have good communication with parish staff, parishioners, and diocesan representatives on relevant matters and stay current with developments or trends in the field of liturgy and ministry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Develops goals, objectives, and strategies for comprehensive training for liturgical ministers.

•Prepares the liturgical calendar.

•Is the liaison between the Pastor and all liturgical Hispanic ministries in the parish

•Oversees all liturgical ministries and coordinates their needs, requests, activities.

•Recruits, supervises, and coordinates the training of the liturgical Hispanic ministers for the ministries: Lectors, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, Sacristans

•Prepares mass scripts for all liturgies in Spanish.

•Translates and transcribes documents, liturgies for masses and parish bulletins.

•To present before and after all liturgies in Spanish to ensure timely and appropriate material is used.

•Able to vocally translate homilies from English to Spanish as needed during mass.

•Attends and participates in staff meetings.

•Attends and facilitates liturgy and/or ministries meetings.

•Attends meetings/events convened by the diocese as related to liturgical ministry or job responsibilities at deanery or archdiocesan level.

•Provides leadership related to liturgical music.

•Build repertoire with music ministry members and encourages participation.

•Develop and train leaders as cantors.

•Assist with liturgical appropriate music formation.

•Performs any other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

•Degree in theology, pastoral studies, religious education, or a related field (or equivalent) preferred.

•Must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English

•At least three years of ministry experience in a parish or diocesan position preferred.

•Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.

•Must pass archdiocesan Safe environment requirements and background screening.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

•Knowledge of Catholic liturgies and celebrations, its doctrines, and beliefs

•Practicing Catholic faithful to the Magisterial teachings of the Church, living consistent with his/her vocation and have a strong sense of the Church's mission to bring people into encounter with Jesus Christ

•Strong knowledge of the Church's vison for evangelization and missionary discipleship

•Knowledge of multi-cultural dimensions of parish life and the ability to work with different cultures.

•Leadership and teambuilding abilities to direct all elements parish life.

•Possess excellent planning, organizational and collaborative skills.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.

•Computer literacy, excellent written and oral communication in English and Spanish with good interpersonal skills

•Ability to assess parish needs and resources and perform against objectives and goals to fulfill these needs.

•Ability to work under pressure to initiate, be creative, and to anticipate solutions to problems; to exercise good judgment in emergency situations and work with frequent interruptions.

•Expected to work a flexible schedule approximately 20 hours per week including evenings and weekends to cover liturgies, Holy Days, and other liturgical events during the year.
