3rd Shift Extrusion Operator

Department: Manufacturing / Operations / Quality

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: US - Wisconsin - Madison

Compensation: $20.00 / hour

Description

Responsible for set-up and operation of XP and UPP extrusion lines (multi-layer, multi-extruders nylon pipe) and other extrusion duties as required and time permits (pipe reeling, reel building, etc.). Previous experience in pipe extrusion is preferred. Previous experience in a position needing mechanical aptitude is required.

Key Responsibilities
•Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per Franklin Fueling Systems.
•Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures.
•Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and materials to Supervisor.
•Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
•Meets daily production schedule as assigned.
•Assembly and operation of extrusion line and set-up.
•Involved in pipe line production, reel to reel, and reel building.
•Provides on the job training to new employees.
•Insures all products are produced to the highest quality.
•Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Skills and Abilities
•Works with various hand and power tools.
•Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
•Utilizes common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
•Provides accurate work on a consistent basis meeting precise tolerances and standards.
•Interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team.
•Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.
•Ability to work alone effectively under stress and in situations dangerous to self or others.
•Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.

Education and Experience
•High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
•Previously experience in extrusion (preferred)
•Demonstrated/previous mechanical aptitude (required)

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
•While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:

o Continually required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 lbs.; stand.

o Regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.; push or pull; walk.

o Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.; sit; ascend or descend ladders, stairs, or ramps; turn wrenches, valves, or handles; bend or twist; use upper extremities; reach above shoulders; reach to full extension.
•The employee must continually lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include regular peripheral viewing; viewing length changes; close viewing with depth perception; and occasional distance viewing.
•Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the need to perceive the spoken voice clearly and the need to hear warning signals up to 70dbs with or without assistance.
•Specific speech abilities regularly required by this job include comprehensible speech.
