Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations. Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as endoscopies, X-rays, CT scans and blood tests. Perform endoscopic procedures to diagnose and treat digestive conditions (depending on the scope of practice). Develop and implement treatment plans. Manage chronic digestive conditions and provide ongoing patient care. Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists and other specialists when needed to ensure coordinated care. Educate patients on digestive health and disease prevention. Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients. Stay current on the latest advancements in gastroenterology through continuing education.
