Job Description and Requirements

The Accountant, according to GAAP, will prepare and post journal entries, reconcile a multitude of general ledgers, prepare financial statements, and conduct variance analyses pertinent to the Credit Union and Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs). Additionally, the Accountant will research and resolve a wide variety of general ledger outages in a timely manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate general ledger entries and financial statements for Credit Union Services Organizations (CUSOs) for executive management and board of director review.
  • Research and document explanations for changes/variances in general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile general ledgers and ensure outages are rectified promptly.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger according to GAAP, maintaining complex Excel spreadsheets for supporting documentation.
  • Communicate productively and professionally with employees and vendors to resolve issues and answer general ledger related questions.
  • Cross-train to perform critical functions to back up key personnel.
  • Collaborate with teammates to improve internal processes.
  • All other duties as assigned (note: essential functions and responsibilities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice).
Requirements:
  • Associates or more advanced degree
  • Less than one year of job-related work experience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organization, analytical, and communication skills
  • Familiar with member-facing transactions to research an assortment of outages withstanding in the general ledger
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how financial institutions work
  • Capable of working independently on assigned work
  • Demonstrate an understanding of GAAP
  • Microsoft Office Suite, specifically comfortable in Microsoft Excel and efficiency using various computer software to generate reports and research transactions
