Description

Principal Function: The Bartender's function is to serve the needs of our guests by preparing and serving beer, wine, alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages at various festivals, functions and events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
  1. Preparing non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages at festivals and events.
  2. Possesses knowledge of drink preparation and serving etiquette.
  3. Understands the amenities and general information about Conner Prairie to share with guests.
  4. Setup and teardown before and after festivals and events.
  5. Accurately monitors and tracks all tips received and reports appropriately.
  6. Monitors inventory and makes recommendations for purchasing and stocking of the bar.
  7. Possesses awareness of guests who may reach their limit of alcohol consumption and takes appropriate steps as necessary.
  8. Maintains high level of cleanliness and organization of work area.
  9. Adheres to Conner Prairie's rules of conduct and diversity and inclusion Promise Statement.
  10. Possesses excellent communication skills.
  11. Comfortable working independently.


Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. required; valid bartending license required; one year bartending experience desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to working in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and outdoor weather conditions. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Conner Prairie is generally open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, this position will be required to work beyond these hours and when open for special events.
