Summary:

Design and engineer electrical control systems for custom & standard products utilizing the prepared proposal, budget, and customer specifications to produce products while focusing on project budgets and timeline. Act as controls lead for assigned projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS to PERFORM DUTIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the electrical and controls design and programming content of one (or several) projects from project start in engineering to final acceptance by customer.

Design PLC and HMI logic using products from different manufacturers (primarily AB and Siemens).

Review engineering file and design products to meet applicable specs.

Interact and communicate with customers, project managers, vendors, and the controls group as project dictates.

Oversee or complete AutoCAD electrical drawing package generation of projects including customer approval, wiring schematics & panel layout.

Generate bill of material, estimate cost of purchased items, and requisition all necessary material and components.

Research and use new software and hardware packages.

Support all other departments on an as need basis regarding electrical components / programming of machines.

Assist engineers, designers, electricians and customer with debugging and machine runoffs.

Support projects in the field, as needed, during start-up and through warranty period.

Other functions as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May assist in the training of new employees and oversight of designers.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Associate or bachelors degree in electrical or controls engineering and/or 2-4 years of relevant technical experience. Must have product component level knowledge and AutoCAD Electric experience. Position requires multiple projects be handled at one time. Project management experience is a plus. Must have basic Microsoft Office products knowledge. Capital equipment experience a plus.

Language Skills:

Must be able to communicate verbally and/or in writing with other employees, other departments, supervision, and customer relating to work in progress, problems and/or completion. Must be able to present information to groups of employees, customers, vendors etc.

Mathematical Skills:

College level mathematics required as well as use of calculations consistent with the electrical design of equipment in the cleaning equipment industry.

Reasoning Ability:

Be able to identify work process problems and possible solutions.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

Maintain local, regional and/or national membership in appropriate professional organizations/associations as necessary.

Physical Demands:

Sit at workstation for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to adjust visual focus. May be required to reach, stoop and/or bend on an as needed basis. Must be able to climb stairs as necessary. Will need to go into shop environment on an as needed basis.

Work Environment:

Traditional office atmosphere. Temperature standard. Quiet noise level. Will need to go into shop environment on an as needed basis.

Travel:

Must be able to periodically travel to customers jobsite for startups, machine commissioning and warranty work as dictated by project. All projects to not require travel, most stays are from 1 to 2 days, some could be more.
