Description

StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Case Manager to join the PADRE Team

PADRE, Parenting Awareness and Drug Risk Education, provides community-based intervention outreach services and evidenced-based education to people who are of childbearing age to decrease the impact of substance use. Interventions include: Talking with parents about their needs and their children's needs; parental education classes; recommending community services that can assist parents and their children; and helping parents get needed services and supplies.

PADRE Case Manager Responsibilities:
  • Work is performed under the general supervision of the Program Director, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Provide on-site or in-vivo substance use/abuse screening and assessments and complete Department of State Health Services (DSHS) approved PADRE Risk Screening tool to identify, recruit and engage parents referred.
  • Develop person centered treatment plan using data from PADRE Risk Screening and subsequent sessions to facilitate customer choice to coordinate services.
  • Use Motivational Interviewing and counseling techniques to express acceptance, manage resistance and support self-confidence with participants to help ensure the safety of the unborn child and the safety of the living environment of the newborn.
  • Provide education about Teratogens, substances that can harm an unborn baby, including: alcohol, nicotine, street drugs, as well as prescriptions, over the counter medications, herbs, and environmental agents.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational groups.
  • Complete other program related data as required based on assessment and need and service being monitored.
  • Complete all internal and other program required documentation.
  • Communicate information to supervisor and other center staff members.
  • Assist with special projects or assignments as requested.
Schedule: This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department. Position may require evening and weekend work.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in Human Services (Psychology, Sociology, Family Studies, etc.).
  • Experience working with people with substance use disorders or those at risk of developing a substance use disorder is preferred.
  • Knowledge of opioid use/misuse is also preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of or ability to learn about services and resources in the community and deliver recovery support services at times and locations that are necessary to meet the needs of the target population.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of assignments and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to follow brief oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with customers, other employees, and the public.
  • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping/filing systems.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
  • Local travel, using personal vehicle, with mileage reimbursement, is required.
