ABOUT THE COMPANY
Camden Center is a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment center that offers comprehensive, multi-disciplinary treatment for psychiatric, addictive and eating disorders. Our staff is comprised of nationally recognized medical doctors, psychotherapists, and integrative medicine specialists who have been recruited as experts in their field to work with our patients. Camden Center is a medical organization established and operated by physicians, and is founded on the principles of clinical excellence, compassionate care, and respect for our patients.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Admissions Specialist is responsible for screening individuals for appropriateness and eligibility for mental health and addiction treatment and/or individualized supportive housing, as well as coordinating admission to the appropriate level of care. This position also maintains collaborative working relationships with external referents, families, and other treatment providers, and provides external treatment referrals as needed.

Camden Center takes a clinically attuned approach to admissions that prioritizes the needs of the admitting patient. A suitable candidate for the Admissions Specialist position is someone who has a clinical background, can work independently within a supportive team, and has strong interpersonal and customer service skills. An Admissions Specialist's strengths are compassion, empathy, and the ability to effectively communicate with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, clinicians, and other members of the admissions team.

Remote is possible for this position, although candidates who are local to Camden Center's Los Angeles or San Francisco offices are preferred.

This full-time position reports directly to the Director of Admissions and works as part of a team of Admissions Specialists. Camden Center prioritizes work/life balance and offers an array of full-time benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Answer admissions-line calls and respond to web forms from potential patients, their families, and referents
  • Obtain from patient or patient's representative relevant information, including personally identifying information and treatment history
  • Manage the calendar for scheduling pre-admission assessments for potential patients and qualified pre-admission assessment staff
  • Enter patient information into Salesforce and the electronic medical record system
  • Obtain release of information from appropriate providers, individuals, and facilities of the patient to obtain medical records and other relevant information
  • Compile data for occupancy and census records
  • Answer phones, transfer calls to the appropriate stations, and take detailed messages when necessary; able to differentiate urgent messages and regular calls that can be returned at the end of the day
  • Be willing and able to periodically work a weekend call shift (with weekday schedule adjusted accordingly)
  • Use tact, discretion, and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality attention to detail
  • Demonstrate high levels of professionalism when communicating in person, by email, or by phone
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in admissions, preferably at a mental health or addiction treatment center
  • Clinical background is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work with electronic health records or other client databases, including BestNotes, Salesforce, and the Google suite of services
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
