SUMMARY

The Retail Area Managers covers a broad spectrum of duties, disciplines, and responsibilities that require a combination of management skills, education, and experience. The manager maintains operational, leadership and financial accountability of the convenience stores within their area of responsibility. In addition to managing the day to day retail support systems of all Vitus retail store operations and as directed, this position will be responsible for working with the Retail Operations Support Director to manage projects and tasks related specifically to the growth of Vitus Energy's Retail Store portfolio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This work shall include, but is not limited to:
  • Execute strategic initiatives, drive sales, and maintain quality and service standards in all locations.
  • Observe and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Management to include daily prioritization, guidance and performance management of all C-Store Managers and employees.
  • Daily paperwork entries review in Modisoft.
  • Verifone Commander programming and troubleshooting as needed before elevation to the Verifone help desk .
  • Verifone Commander annual renewals of contracts.
  • Current business licenses.
  • Current state and local food service licenses (could remain in the long-term support area unless we need to set up a designated person for all license renewals not related to package stores).
  • Instore training compliance tracking.
  • Customer service escalation.
  • Labor planning and optimization.
  • Supervise store programs to monitor and manage daily inspections, logs, inventory reconciliations, and other management reporting requirements at retail locations.
  • Help and assist to prepare and manage budgets for CAPEX, operations, facilities and equipment maintenance and retail locations.
  • Manage a variety of projects, large and small, as needed.
  • Responsible for maintenance callouts, management and follow up.
  • Conflict resolution with customers, vendors. Responsible for overall security of the stores.
  • Management of company programs and policies as assigned.
  • Management/leadership, regulatory, safety and financial accountability for four company owned retail convenience stores and gas stations.
  • Ensure the proper execution of the 30-60-90 retail operations and marketing plan to include:
    • Merchandise specials
    • Signage and advertising
    • Upsell talking points
    • New product roll out and training
  • Hire, train, develop, and mentor Team Members; coach and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Supervise, mentor and train store managers and staff.
  • Conduct routine on-site store visits to ensure compliance with all safety, quality and regulatory rules and policies of Vitus and other governing bodies.
  • Support the recruiting, hiring and long term mentorship of store employees. Be prepared to support single store operations and when staffing issues require.
  • Area P&L management focused on maintaining healthy inventory ordering and stocking as well as expense lines to include merchandize, consumables, utilities, advertising and labor.
  • Manage labor budget and fulfill staffing needs for regular hours, as well as plan for peak events. Ensure scheduling system is kept up to date, schedule is timely prepared and posted, and all scheduling updates are appropriately communicated.
  • Conduct routine visits for compliance with store operations policies such as pricing, cleanliness, regulatory, tank monitoring, etc.
  • Working with station managers, ensure all retail site systems remain fully functional through application of scheduled maintenance.
  • Work with station managers and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance where applicable.
  • Provide weekly reports to upper management containing data on store sales and profit.
  • Oversee month-end inventory counts and reconciliations.
  • Conduct overall appearance evaluations of sites regularly; advise store managers of anything requiring attention.
  • Implement orientation programs for new hires; establish training calendar for regular employees.
  • Cultivate a constructive and supportive workplace culture where Team Members can learn, grow, and succeed; promptly and effectively resolve conflicts and competency gaps when necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, company policy, procedure manuals and/or state and federal regulations; to write routine reports and correspondence; and to speak effectively before groups of employees of company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; to use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets as directed by the Anchorage office.
