Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to an SVP of Engineering, Modern Banking Platform (MBP), the Senior Director, Head of MBP Quality Engineering will play a critical role in driving innovation and growth for the Banking Solutions business. In a leadership role in the MBP organization, you will be responsible for transforming our talent and driving the development and implementation of next generation core baking solutions.

With a focus on core banking software engineering and execution, you will collaborate closely with product leaders, and other stakeholders to align on product milestones and deliver innovative core banking applications and experiences. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the company's core banking transformation journey, drive customer-centric innovation, and position the organization as a leader in the competitive core banking landscape. Specifically, the Head of MBP Quality Engineering will be responsible for the following:
  • Partnering closely with the broader MBP Engineering organization, and Banking product organization to define and deliver a modern, scalable, quality platform as the backbone for next generation solutions that will drive market share and delight customers with a compelling user experience.
  • Delivering high-quality and performant technology solutions to our clients and customers for a product area in the MBP line of business.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of quality engineering leaders and quality engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence. This includes identifying and attracting high-quality talent, as well as upskilling the existing team.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the quality engineering space, bringing innovative ideas and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and manage dependencies in the roadmap, ensuring alignment with MBP quality engineering practices and the shipment of defect-free solutions.
  • Participating in discussions with clients and customers to gather feedback and ensure that MBP products meet their requirements and expectations.
  • Driving and exemplifying quality engineering best practices and standards, while managing technology debt. Ensure the company continues to drive process improvement and migration to modern architectures and infrastructure.
Charter
  • Deliver a best-in-class quality engineering practice inclusive of the foundational quality engineering platform and quality engineering processes that will be leveraged by a scaled engineering organization to deliver products to clients and customers.
  • Define overall quality assurance strategy, inclusive of setup and alignment within our Agile operating model, talent structure and needs, and test planning, design, and management.
  • Deliver and own the foundation for the quality engineering platform inclusive of test automation frameworks, tooling, test data management, environments, and any quality assurance capabilities needed horizontally across the MBP organization.
  • Define, implement, and roll out approaches for functional testing including unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, interface testing, acceptance testing, regression testing, and any additional practices needed to ensure our products are working as intended.
  • Define, implement, and roll out approaches for non-functional testing including performance testing, security testing, load testing, reliability testing, accessibility testing, and any additional practices needed to ensure our products are performing as intended.
Professional Qualifications
  • 10+ years of Quality Engineering experience, with multiple years of leadership experience building high-performing, best in class quality engineering teams in a high-growth software product environment.
  • In-depth quality engineering experience and experience in the adoption of Agile best practices and automation to accelerate capabilities to production.
  • Strong track-record of building out market leading core banking products, on-time and with quality.
  • Significant experience building high volume core banking applications leveraging modern architectural patterns, component based assets, and API technologies.
  • Deep technical knowledge of quality assurance technologies, frameworks, pipelines, and tooling
  • Proven track record of hiring, managing, mentoring, and retaining top-performing quality engineering professionals, and inspiring and leading engineering teams.
  • Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering principles and processes (e.g., Lean, Agile, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement.
  • Deep understanding of security and compliance for managing data, ideally in a regulated industry.
  • Excellent communicator, highly innovative with a low ego, capable of motivating and energizing direct reports and peers, with a proven ability to create a highly collaborative working environment.
  • Preferred degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar relevant field preferred.
