Description:

Ship Repair Estimator

Estimator Job Purpose:

Prepares cost estimates by analyzing

requirements/specifications

in government Solicitations.

Estimator Job Duties: The ideal candidate possesses the skills necessary to estimate work across more than one discipline. For example, he/she can estimate structural repairs, hydraulic systems, piping, welding, and other general ship and boat ship repair requirements.

Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.

Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying requests for proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.

Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.

Works with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain material and other costs.

Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.

Inputs cost estimates into company owned, proprietary EXCEL spreadsheets.

Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.

Makes visits to ships and craft to understand requirements.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:

Analyzing Information , Estimating, Planning, Reporting Research Results, Data Center Experience, Strategic Planning, Attention to Detail, Informing Others, Requirements Analysis. Works closely with the Director, to whom he/she reports to. Knows duties and responsibilities of Production Team Leaders.

To be able to work on government vessels and to gain access to government facilities, all applicants must be able to pass successfully a background screening conducted by the federal government

.

Applicant must be physically able to climb ladders on ships with ease and knows general ship compartment numbering system.
