JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented Diagnostic Engineer to develop product level diagnostic software for the qualification and manufacturing of our protection based products. This role will interact with circuit designers, FPGA designers, firmware engineering, test engineering, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently to develop an architecture and testing strategies to create a diagnostic suite that meets Doble's rigorous quality standards. This position will be located at our headquarters in Marlborough, MA reporting to the Software Engineering Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop an extensible system level diagnostic architecture for Doble instruments.
  • Develop board level diagnostics for modules within a given instrument.
  • Develop a core POST which tests and exercises processors, memory subsystems and communication ports.
  • Develop a version of the testing that will exercise and stress the system,detecting error rates over temperature, shock, and time. This mode will be used extensively in Design validation testing and early prototype improvement.
  • Develop fault isolation tests for modules, cables, front panel ports with loopback and performance measured through fault insertion where possible.
  • Develop a customer-exposed mode of software, which allows the customer to confirm operation of modules within a given instrument.
  • Develop diagnostics to calibrate the instrument through commercially available test instruments for use at field repair depots and our contract manufacturer.
  • Develop logging systems that will capture error logs during diagnostics and aid in customer service.
  • Implement continuous improvement in releases to achieve greater coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

BSEE/BSCE required, MSEE/MSCE or equivalent is a plus

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of related technical work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using C++ to develop diagnostic test software and firmware for design verification and manufacturing
  • Experienced with
    • PCB Bring-up and debug
    • Embedded Linux development
    • Xilinx Zynq experience a plus
    • Windows application development
    • Common interfaces like I2C, SPI, USB
    • Testing and validating network interfaces
    • Test equipment for debug, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
    • Analyzing circuit schematics to identify test points, loopbacks
    • In-circuit test and boundary scan
    • A scripting language, ideally Python
    • Web development experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Jira for issue and bug tracking
  • Strong documentation skills, ideally Wiki (Atlassian)
  • Familiarity with National Instruments or similar instrument control protocols a plus

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
