Position Summary:
We are seeking an effective and energetic Director of Communications to play a crucial role in shaping and executing our communications strategy with a focus on public relations and internal communications. You will be responsible for effectively communicating our message to local and trade media, investors, industry partners, our growing employee base and the public. The ideal candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a keen understanding of digital and traditional media platforms, and the ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop communications strategy by collaborating with senior leadership to develop comprehensive communications strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
- Partner with marketing leadership team to create compelling content.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, podcasters, and other media professionals and be the point of contact for media inquiries. Coordinate interviews and media events.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels. Maintain the tone of our brand and uphold the organization's brand identity.
- Develop and execute internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.
- Facilitate communication across the organization and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Maintain crisis communication plans and protocols to effectively manage and respond to any potential crises or issues that may arise. Serve as a spokesperson during times of crisis and manage communication with the media and other stakeholders.
- Identify key stakeholders and develop strategies to effectively engage with them. Collaborate with marketing peers and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with stakeholder expectations.
- Plan and execute events, including press conferences, product launches, and corporate gatherings. Coordinate logistics, manage invitations, and oversee event communication to ensure a seamless experience for participants.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages tailored to different audiences.
- Strong media relations skills with experience in pitching stories and managing media inquiries. Previous experience in telecom a plus.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and navigate complex and sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in crisis communications is highly desirable.
- Creative and resourceful thinking with an objective, proactive, and strategic approach to communication challenges.
- Strong working knowledge Office 365.
- Effectively adapt to new technology.
- Proven ability to work in a detailed and organized manner.
- Ability to collaborate / partner with various teams across organizations.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and communication skills.
- 3+ years' experience in a similar role with a proven track record of successful communication strategies and campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with executives, department heads, mid- and lower-level management, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- BA or BS in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field required.
