POSITION TITLE: Senior Wind Energy Assessment Resource Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY: We are actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Resource Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be a key player in the greenfield stage development, specializing in wind analysis, utilizing tools like OpenWind software, interpreting LIDAR data, and ensuring seamless integration of met data insights into project planning.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Wind Energy Assessment, and provide support directly to Galeheads Project Development team.
  • Wind Analysis:
  • Conduct comprehensive wind resource assessments using advanced tools such as OpenWind software to optimize energy production estimates.
  • Strong ability to assess raw data measured on site such as the average energy production (P50) as well as confidence intervals to provide a measure of the estimates reliability.
  • Candidate will work with 3rd parties to receive a bankable energy assessment report providing impartial evidence of the analysis and its result
  • Validated pre-construction wind energy output predictions to mitigate risk and build confidence in project among prospective partners and customers.
  • LIDAR and Met Tower Campaigns:
  • Candidate will be responsible for siting initial, secondary and full met/LIDAR campaigns to quickly assess and then verify data for new wind sites.
  • Tracking Galeheads met towers, age, and maintenance programs will initially be part of the responsibilities of this candidate.
  • Design Optimization:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize wind farm layout and turbine placement, considering terrain features and wake effects.
  • Utilize advanced modeling techniques to simulate and predict the performance of various wind turbine models under varying conditions, including property setbacks and designing for lowest cost of energy (COE)
  • OEM Collaboration:
  • Candidate will engage with wind turbine OEMs to understand the latest technological advancements and provide input for turbine selection based on site-specific conditions.
  • Collaborate with OEMs to fine-tune turbine specifications and maximize energy yield.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
  • Ensure accurate recording and storage of LIDAR and met data for ongoing and future projects.
  • Generate detailed reports and presentations, incorporating technical insights into resource assessments for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in business growth and strategy sessions.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Preferred Fields: Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
  • 1-2 years demonstrated experience in wind resource assessment with proficiency in OpenWind software or similar tools.
  • Understanding of Lidar Technology and its application in wind resource analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of wind turbine technology, wake effects, and industry best practices.
