POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for leading the implementation of URI's corporate and foundations relations strategy, focusing on a designated portfolio of programs, including the Economic Empowerment Program (EEP) and other programs as assigned. They will also support general operating revenue resource generation. Other areas of responsibility include working with the CDO to develop and implement corporate partnership strategies such as corporate employee engagement, cause marketing partnerships, corporate in-kind giving, matching gift programs, and employee giving campaigns with an emphasis on their assigned portfolio of programs. The Director must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, relationship development experience, ability to work effectively across an organization, exceptional communication skills, and ability to multi-task.

Salary: $94,000 to $105,000

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising/Grants

  • Develops, writes, and assembles proposals and reports to funders and donor prospects.
  • Uses CRM database to manage relationships, reports due, pending proposals, and prospects.
  • Manages calendar of grant and proposals due dates.
  • Works across the organization, and in partnership with Program Leadership and staff, to develop content for proposals.
  • Aligns URI needs with grant opportunities.
  • Develops and promotes ongoing stewardship with funders through customized communication.
Relationship Strategy & Management
  • Leads prospecting of corporate giving programs, corporate foundations, and foundations (or supervises intern or consultant doing this work). Prospecting to align with Strategic Plan goals, organizational work-plan goals, and capital needs, as determined by CDO in collaboration with leadership. Includes research through various available tools. Ensures that the corporate prospect list is maintained.
  • Develops strategy for existing and new corporate and foundation supporters.
  • Supports CDO in creation of broad organizational corporate engagement strategy that strongly aligns with URI's strategic priorities and needs.
  • Supports strategy development for corporate support for annual Celebration. Includes collaboration on corporate honoree engagement.
  • Lead relationship manager with assigned portfolio of donors.
  • Provides research and recommends strategy direction to Executive Leadership for partner engagement.
  • Works with CDO to develop Cause Marketing Campaigns, including possible Point of Sale campaigns.
  • Recommend, explore, and pursue opportunities for leveraging corporate fundraisers, (e.g., corporate runs), designating URI as beneficiary.
  • Prepares backgrounder summary for prospects and donors in advance of meeting. Prepares leadership for visits and meetings.
  • Manages moves management for corporate prospects in the donor database.
Corporate Employee Engagement Strategy
  • Develops and implements strategies for corporate employee engagement, including volunteerism, and partnerships with Employee Resource Groups.
  • Collaborate with programs to devise engagement opportunities that best meet programmatic needs and are accessible for corporate volunteers.
  • Collaborates with Development Coordinator to volunteer engagement opportunities.
  • Develops relationships and opportunities for in-kind giving, in coordination with Coordinator.
  • Develops opportunities for employee giving campaigns and promotes matching gift opportunities for corporate donors. Ensures processing of corporate match by submitting documentation needed.
Messaging/Visibility
  • Works with MarComm to develop web and collateral content that promotes corporate engagement opportunities.
  • Works with corporate partner and URI MarCom to ensure donors seeking recognition receive appropriate visibility, in alignment with grant contracts and award letters.
  • Ensures corporate partner has URI logos, messaging, collateral as needed for their promotion of URI partnership.
Other
  • Attend workshops, conferences, events, as requested to keep current in the fields of fundraising, domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Complete other duties as requested based on department, organizational need and as directed by CDO.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of seven years in an institutional fundraising role, and experience with the New York fundraising landscape. Experience with corporate and foundations fundraising.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • May require occasional work outside established working hours, including evening events.
  • Passion for URI's mission and core values.
  • Record of accomplishment in successfully prospecting, engaging, cultivating, and closing gifts from foundations and corporations.
  • Exceptional relationship building, communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of audiences. Demonstrated ability to manage and steward donor relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments in a professional, respectful manner to submit Letters of Inquiry, proposals, and reports on time and accurately.
  • Capability of working independently and seeking guidance as needed from Supervisor.
  • Ability to engage supervisor to resolve any challenges in completing projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers who have diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize within a fast-paced working environment.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams), Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, Monday.com, etc.
