Catastrophe Claims Sr. Business Analyst

The Catastrophe Claims Sr. Business Analyst works as a consultant to business and claims stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes. Collaborating with data analytics team, actuary and claims leadership. The Sr. Business Analyst collects, clarifies and translates business into documentation and conceptual design. Establishes collaborative relationship with business staff.

Responsibilities :

  • Establishes collaborative relationship with business staff.

  • Responsible for eliciting requirements from the business, ensuring that the intent of each requirement is well understood and documented, not just the literal meaning of requirements.

  • Provides thought leadership on an advisory basis to the business with respect to ACSC business processes / improvements, industry trends and best practices.

  • Works with business leaders/Sr. Management and acts as a liaison between IS and business units or vendors.

  • Leads the gathering of business needs as well as the design of solutions through direct interaction with business unit leaders. Focuses on developing and improving business processes at all times, assists with the development of metrics, both within the technology and business organizations based on industry trends and best practices.

  • Analyzes complex problems, develops, proposes, and manages innovative solutions.

  • Applies a strategic approach towards catastrophe claims management while communicating effectively with claims business staff and management.

  • Configures package or custom applications by modifying table-driven application setups which control system functionality through parameters. Communicates with business regarding the use and set up of these parameters. May also be required to understand scripting code (XML) and explain it to the business users.

Education/Experience :

  • 4 Year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience within analytics preferred.

  • Typically 5 years of Data Analytics experience (or equivalent experience working as a business team member, on Analytics projects), 4 years of Catastrophe claims experience, and 2 years experience in project management

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :

  • High level of understanding of the organization's business systems and processes as well as industrywide requirements.

  • Expertise in strategic planning, tactical execution, project management, process management, and business systems requirements definition and documentation.

  • Proven interpersonal skills working in a team environment, creating a motivation for high achievement.

  • Knowledge of Claims Center, CCC, and Xactimate
