Responsibilities:- Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving
- Operates heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
- Performs daily safety and maintenance checks
- Cleans heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
- Maintains the equipment and advise supervisor of any requirement for maintenance or repairs
- Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
- Uses equipment as appropriate to level roads and/or working area, ensure proper drainage, and develop proper grade.
- Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.

- Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
- Properly follows all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
- Reports any problems to your immediate supervisor
- Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with shovel
- Follows direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
- May be called upon to run small power tools such as jack hammer
- Digs, spreads, and levels construction materials
- Lifts, carries and holds material, tools and supplies
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
- Other duties as assigned
Safety
- Responsible for ensuring OSHA standards and company safety policies are complied with at all times including but not limited to operation of tools, equipment and machinery
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Considerable knowledge of equipment operations and construction and maintenance procedures
- Must possess a working knowledge of grades and blueprints
- Skill in operation of assigned equipment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and general public
Pay Range: $30.00 - $45.00/hr based on experience.
