As an LPN in this role, you will be responsible for providing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients, following established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. **Qualifications:** - Degree/Education: You must have a Certificate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency. The program should be accredited by either The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). - Licensure: You must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse. Your license to practice as an LPN should be from a US jurisdiction, and it must be maintained throughout the course of employment. - Experience: You should have experience in care and treatment of patients, operating therapeutic equipment, administering medications, conducting physical examinations, and assisting in medical treatment of patients within the LPN scope of practice. You must have at least 12 months of recent hands-on patient care experience in the outpatient clinical setting within the past 24 months. - Certification: You must have a current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification. - Knowledge: Within established procedures, protocols, and scope of practice, you should have knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, psychology, pharmacology, medical ethics, clinical procedures, patient care, emergency medical treatment, prescription drugs, operating therapeutic equipment, risk management, medical contingency operations, and computer operations. **Responsibilities:** - Provide care to patients in accordance with their conditions, using judgment to select appropriate procedures and treatments. Ensure accurate recognition, reporting, and recording of relevant patient information. - Observe, identify, and respond to patient's needs for care, including medication administration, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education. - Administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and perform treatments as per established policies and procedures. - Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations and seek assistance from the RN and/or MD/DO, initiating appropriate emergency interventions as directed. - Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests/procedures, preparing patients, assisting in examinations, handling specialized instruments/equipment, and monitoring patient's condition. - Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies, procedures, skills, and standards of practice. - Integrate principles of a healthy work environment that contribute to improved patient healthcare delivery, patient/family education, and employee satisfaction. - Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed. - Provide individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics, including preventative healthcare and health maintenance. - Recognize and respond to emergencies, performing basic life support measures. - Adhere to infection control procedures including personal protective equipment usage, waste disposal, and aseptic technique. - Perform central sterile supply duties. - Ensure proper assembly, operation, cleaning, and storage of equipment at the end of each shift.
