Living Proof is seeking a hair care Product Science Claims Lead to be responsible for managing the brand and product claims process. The professional candidate will partner with R&D, Marketing, Regulatory and Legal to ensure product technical insights and science are accurately represented in consumer facing product copy, benefits, visuals, and claims. This is a full-time position based at the corporate headquarters in Boston, MA working on-site with the R&D Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date on hair care industry developments, market trends, competitor offerings and the latest scientific advancements in hair care to apply this knowledge to create innovative and effective product claims and demos.
  • In partnership with R&D and Marketing, support the development of strategic brand and product claims, and bring scientific elements to life to showcase consumer benefits, key differentiators, and superior performance over leading competitors.
  • Mange the claims process end-to-end, build comprehensive claims support plans, drive the execution of the plans, and identify claims risk with support from R&D, Legal and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Lead efforts with other R&D functions to design and execute rigorous product testing protocols. This includes setting experiments, collecting data, and analyzing results to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the hair care products.
  • Ensure all product claims and marketing copy are scientifically valid, compliant with regulatory standards, and are properly substantiated with written reports. This involves reviewing scientific literature, conducting experiments, and analyzing data to support each claim.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of documentation related to brand and product claims, including final claims dossiers, technical reports, and marketing materials.
  • In collaboration with Marketing, identify formulation technical insights and ensure product science and benefits are represented in ownable marketing content, visuals, and category leading product positioning.
  • Create consumer facing demos to illustrate product benefits or other key differentiators.
  • Ensure Panels/HUT/Clinical testing methodologies and execution are optimized to capture key learnings for claims support and program objective.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure claims align with the program communication objectives and retailer expectations.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role within the beauty industry, preferably in hair care.
  • Technical background with a BS in Chemistry, Biology or related science preferred.
  • Experience with claims substantiation, development of technical test methods to measure performance attributes, clinical testing, and consumer use testing.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and interacting cross-functionally.
  • Strong understanding of hair science, hair care products and application, ingredients, and formula design.
  • Familiar with regulatory affairs in the beauty industry.
  • Creative thinker and problem-solver to generate out-of-the-box product test designs and demos.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to effectively lead all technical aspects of projects, execute tasks within defined timelines and work independently with limited oversight.
  • Strong aptitude for analytical thinking and technical understanding of complex experimental designs.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to extract beneficial results for claim support.
  • Demonstrated exceptional aptitude towards understanding consumer insights and product design, applying them towards the building of strong and simplified consumer facing product copy and demos.
  • Exhibit excellent organization, planning and multi-tasking skills. Detailed oriented is a must.
  • Strong interpersonal, written/verbal and presentation skills.
