**SUMMARY**

Haas Automation is seeking a qualified candidate for a Senior Buyer at the machine tools headquarters in Oxnard, CA. We are looking for an ambitious individual to join our team as we expand our global footprint and open manufacturing facilities in multiple states. This role is highly visible within the Procurement Engineering department working closely with senior management to analyze, develop, and drive sourcing initiatives to meet and exceed business metrics in terms of cost, quality, service, and delivery.

In this role, you will develop multiple sourcing projects with suppliers from around the world. You will work under the umbrella of the engineering department and will support the product managers with procurement for new product development as well as existing product offerings. You will be at the center of the Global Strategic Sourcing organization interfacing with your counterparts around the world.

The Buyer 3 role is an experienced supply chain professional responsible for representing the company in the sourcing, strategic selection, and management of vendors with the goal of procuring the highest quality products on time and within agreed upon terms under only general supervision.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Use discretion and independent judgment to procure Tooling that meets demand while making decisions on economic order quantities factoring in considerations such as price, delivery costs, demand levels, timing, market trends and potential for design changes/obsolescence.

* Align product deliveries to minimize inventory while ensuring that production and service needs are being met. Assess financial and schedule risks in order to recommend volume buys, etc.

* Perform market research to identify vendors/suppliers and determine viability to meet the needs of the business. Assess vendor/supplier capabilities based on factory audits and performance and make decisions to drive improvement.

* Manage qualification and implementation of products from new suppliers by consulting with internal engineering, quality & production teams.

* Negotiate cost reductions, mitigate cost increases and ensure optimal terms utilizing market data, technical understanding and other strategic methods to maximize benefit to Haas.

* Using quantitative skills/methods and manufacturing expertise, perform should-cost analysis of products which includes analysis of components/raw materials costs.

* Perform variance analyses for price changes.

* Monitor on-going suppliers performance, provide supplier feedback through a supplier scorecard, and drive completion of Corrective Action reports for any quality/delivery issues.

* Review key purchasing drivers (lead time, safety stock, lot size) and identify areas where drivers need to be adjusted to ensure it meets the current needs of the business.

* Employees are expected to follow instructions, procedures and to escalate any issue impacting workflow, quality etc. Additionally, there are high value items that require proper care and protection.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**

This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Microsoft Office Experience Required.

* Understands specifications and blueprint reading.

* Effective written and verbal communication skills with suppliers and other co-workers.

* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment in the performance of essential duties.

* 0- 5% Travel Required.

* Employees must exhibit honesty and integrity as well as demonstrate adherence to rules, procedures and policies.

**Desired Qualifications**

* Advanced knowledge of Excel a plus.

* SAP or ERP Software Experience preferred.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

Bachelor's Degree BA/BS/BFA/BSA in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or Engineering from a four-year college or university and 5+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**

Must have the ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English. Must have the capability to; write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. It is imperative to effectively present information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**

Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be capable to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be capable to calculate figures and amounts; such as, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. In addition, must have the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

**REASONING ABILITY**

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be capable to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions; such as, mathematical, and/or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

This position requires heavy computer use, including monitor, keyboard, mouse, trackball, touchpad, etc.
