The Die Setter is primarily in charge of setting up presses, selecting and utilizing various stamping dies, transfer tooling, gathering measurements, and analyzing tool life data. This would include creating safety protocols, setting up sheets, setting up prints, and first-piece inspection on changeovers.SUMMARY: As a precise Die Setter, this role will set up presses that range in size from 60 to 350 tons and follow routing information to ensure proper die setup. The Die Setter will also train and support press operators in safety and the actual operation of the metal stamping equipment if necessary. Ohio Grating's expect all items to be completed accurately and consistently, the Die Setter will also conduct first-piece quality assurance tests using precision measuring tools. The Die Setter may also conduct regular maintenance checks, troubleshoot errors, perform basic repairs or adjustments, and produce regular reports for managers. Duties, responsibilities, activities, physical demands, and work environment may change at any time with or without notice.ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Set up presses and die assemblies.Clean bolsters, die bed, and parallels to ensure precision changeovers.Set shut height and other process parameters for hydraulic and mechanical presses.Train employees who run the press line to make sure line runs safely and efficiently.Verify alignment of coils and materials during set up.Load stamping dies into the presses.Inspect first-piece products for quality assurance.Use precision measuring tools, such as micrometers and calipers, to ensure products are made to specification.Troubleshoot issues with equipment.Assist operators as needed.Performs other related duties as assigned.EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES: A high school diploma or GED certificate. Die setting or metal stamping experience. Completion of an apprenticeship or training program. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 70 lbs.
