Role purpose

To support PFI Operations process improvement activities as an active resource. To drive non-value added activity reduction, and support improved process flow through improved design of equipment and methods. Assist Engineering group in data collection to support projects. Be a change agent by support in visual management, value stream analysis, SMED, VRK and other Continuous Improvement tools to eliminate process wastes with goal of complete customer satisfaction. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Lean/Process/Quality Engineering Manager and Plant Manager.

Accountabilities

  • Ensures plant is actively engaged in Continuous Improvement activities and driving sustainable results.
  • Provide support to the plant for activities to drive operational excellence.
  • Support year over year improvements by working with the entire team and company to analyze situations, identify gaps, and solve problems using Continuous Improvement tools.

  • Help drive change, by reacting to requests in rapid time.
  • Have a true sense of urgency to get tasks done and also be thinking about next steps for improvements.
  • Have a strong influence with people to assist in change environment.
  • Help plan and participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Be able to assist and mock up prototypes in cell design or machinery modification to improve process flow.

Requirements Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Qualified candidate will possess at least a BS degree in engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) or related field of study.
  • Experience managing projects that resulted in significant business successes.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Track record of successful continuous improvement activities that resulted in significant cost savings or efficiencies.
  • Critical thinker who is able to show bold ideas but also able to work collaboratively.
  • Experience with making decisions and understands the importance of business growth and competitive advantage through innovative manufacturing improvement.
  • Ability to leverage a change model in a challenging manufacturing environment
  • Team Player who can work well with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to lead training is required.
  • Plan and analyze work flow utilization patterns, space requirements, design of layout, parts and processes for maximum efficiency.
  • Ability to handle complex situations and a detail oriented problem solver.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and ability to work in Excel and Access, as well and ERP/MRP systems, CAD.
  • Assist in Product Development or tool design as needed.

Additional information

  • A minimum of 6 months in current position is required (requirement for internal applicants only)
