WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) provides quality treatment services to clients with substance use disorders using evidence-based and promising practices. The SUDP ensures proper and timely documentation of treatment and case management services.

This position does not supervise employees or provide clinical supervision.

The below requirement differentiates this position from SUDPT:
  • Current SUDP license
PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Services
  • Under supervision of the SUDP supervisor, provides evidence-based and/or promising substance use disorder services through counseling, pyscho-educational classes, process groups, problem-solving and case management in accordance with program policy and the clients' Individual Service Plan
  • Diagnoses substance use disorders in accordance with the most recently published Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (e.g. DSM-5) and ASAM requirements
  • Collaborates with other Pioneer behavioral healthcare providers and community partners based upon the clients' Individual Service Plan
  • Maintains and files complete and accurate documentation of all activities on a professional, self-directed basis according to applicable WACs, agency, and funder policies
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of community resources
  • Assists first responders as needed (i.e. police and medical personnel
Communication and Teamwork
  • Must be available to perform the essential functions of this job whenever scheduled to work.
  • Attends shift/staff meetings and actively participates in planning, coordination and communication of all types, which will contribute to the delivery of quality professional services
  • Utilizes critical thinking and judgment to identify the most professional therapeutic reaction or intervention in client care
  • Documents observations in daily notes in accordance with program policy
  • Promotes and models teamwork and collaboration with coworkers
  • Ensures client and employee safety by maintaining, cleaning, and disposing of equipment and supplies according to policy and procedures
Quality Assurance
  • Maintains quality of care consistent with or exceeding standards set by federal, state, local, internal, and contract requirements
  • Assists in the development of treatment methodologies and educational offerings in accordance with client needs as determined by program leadership
  • Adheres to professional and ethical standards for behavioral health services
  • Retrieves client and program data as needed
  • Completes peer file audits to ensure accuracy and quality of documentation and services
Clinical Training and Development
  • Actively participates in agency supervision toward obtaining and maintaining licensure, in support of evidence-based practices, and in accordance with applicable WAC and RCW requirements
  • Obtains additional training required by applicable WACs and in accordance with annual training plan
  • For positions in 24-hour locations, obtains and maintains a valid Washington State Food Handler's permit within one week of hire
  • For positions in 24-hour locations, becomes CPR & First Aid certified within 90 days of hire (or as soon as possible) and maintains throughout employment
Court Liaison (Locations where applicable)

USPO Court
  • The Liaison role would be 25% of the Court Liaison role and 75% for the SUD Job Description
Drug Court and FMHC
  • If there are two Court Liaison's one for each court, the role would be 25% of the Court Liaison and 75% for the SUD job Description
  • If there is one Court Liaison for both courts, the role would be 50% of the Court Liaison and 50% for the SUD job description
Liaison will act as an intermediary between therapeutic court teams and Pioneer staff, providing accurate information to both teams:
  • Maintain cohesion and positive communication with both Pioneer staff and therapeutic court teams.
  • Act in accordance with Pioneer team decisions regarding client progress and recommendations.
  • Liaison will notify Pioneer management of any changes or new requests made by the therapeutic court team.
  • Liaison will CC Pioneer management on all email communication with therapeutic court teams.
  • Liaison will obtain court dockets weekly from therapeutic court teams and email the dockets to Pioneer staff.
  • Liaison will send an email reminder to Pioneer staff requesting therapeutic court reports from Primary Counselors on the established weekly due date.
  • Liaison will review court reports for accuracy and request further information from staff and/or Primary Counselors as needed to ensure court reports are complete on the established weekly due date.
  • Liaison will obtain parking pass and jet pack (laptop) from Admin prior to attending court. Return parking pass and jet pack to Pioneer Admin prior to end of business on court dates.
  • Liaison will attend therapeutic court staffing on time and read court reports as written to the court team. Accurately reflect Pioneer's reports and Pioneer's team decisions about client progress or recommendations.
  • Liaison will complete court order forms for each client attending court and have clients sign this order in court. Provide one copy to the client and one copy to the therapeutic court team. Provide a final copy of all court orders to the designated Pioneer Admin staff.
  • Liaison will reach out to clients by phone or email when requested to do so by the therapeutic court team.
  • Liaison will contact Pioneer staff prior to or on court dates as needed or as requested by the therapeutic court team to ensure accuracy when reporting to the therapeutic court team.
  • Liaison will complete an accurate court docket summary by end of day on court dates and email to Pioneer staff.
  • Liaison will review the docket summary at the designated Pioneer team staffing weekly and gather information as needed or requested by Pioneer staff and the therapeutic court team during team staffing meetings.
  • The Liaison working in USPO will carry the Step Court caseload and groups
Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED
  • Associate's Degree in mental health, behavioral health, or related human services field
  • Credentialed with the Department of Health as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) in the State of Washington in accordance with WAC 246-811
PREFERRED/DESIRABLE
  • Bachelor's Degree in mental health, behavioral health, or related human services field
  • Experience working in substance use disorder field and/or residential services
  • If designated by the work location, employee must have a valid driver's license, personal auto insurance, and a driver's abstract/driving record acceptable to Pioneer's auto insurance company. Employee must meet requirements of Pioneer's approved driver policy and guidelines.
