Fedcap Employment Specialist - Augusta, Maine Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is looking for a mission-driven individual to become an Employment Specialist This person will provide services to people from all walks of life who are looking to overcome barriers to meet their employment-focused goals. Also known as a Career Advisor, this role is an integral component of the workforce development program model at our Augusta, Maine opportunity center location. Position Key Highlights: Earn a minimum of $42K starting pay in this amazing role where you will be helping people in a unique way to improve their economic stability and that of their family This position is full-time, during the office hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Families Forward offers all full-time employees a comprehensive benefits package, as well as on-the-job training, professional development initiatives, and REAL opportunities for advancement Position Summary: At Families Forward, Employment Specialists provide exemplary employment-focused case management services to assist individuals receiving TANF benefits to address barriers and achieve employment goals. Caseload includes individuals considered 'job-ready' and those with medical barriers. Essential Job Functions: Establishes trust and rapport with program participants. Conducts comprehensive intakes to assist participants with understanding and exploring their needs, strengths, interests, aptitudes, experience, and capabilities. Partners with participants to jointly develop a service plan known as a Family Contract Amendment (FCA) which outlines their short-term and long-term employment and other goals consistent with their skills, interests, and preferences as they relate to work. Meets regularly with participants (minimum once a month) on their caseload, documents progress towards goals, and provides ongoing orientation to ensure that participants are clear on their TANF and program requirements. Builds effective partnerships with external providers to ensure that participants have access to and utilize needed services and supports. Maintains exceptional record keeping and documents all communication and contact with participants and external partners in FedcapCARES. Makes requests for needed support services (childcare, transportation, educational services, and others) to the Office of Family Independence (OFI) Support Services Unit in accordance with policies and procedures to assist participants with achieving requirements of their FCA. Upholds all agency policies and expectations in performing their job. Runs reports in FedcapCARES and uses data to plan daily and weekly tasks. Contacts and reschedules participants who miss appointments with them. Secures releases and builds effective communication with their participants' medical, behavioral health, and other providers. May work with a targeted caseload focusing on a specific group such as two-parent families, individuals enrolled in higher education, and others. Represents Fedcap with all stakeholders and in the community in a positive and professional manner. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher education and/or equivalent experience. Demonstrated track record for providing exceptional customer service. Valid driver's license required. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel: This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but will be determined by your supervisor.
