Reporting to the Director for the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the success of BIPOC undergraduate & graduate students on the uptown and downtown campuses will be the primary function of this role. The Associate Director is charged with developing a comprehensive strategy to support diversity within My Sister's Keeper and create opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to engage and create community among BIPOC women on the uptown and downtown campuses.

The Associate Director is directly responsible for the leadership and cultural identity development of graduate and professional students by providing services, advocacy, and programming that complements the graduate and professional student experience and centers the needs of students pursuing a Professional Certification, Master, or Doctoral degree at Tulane. The Associate Director creates a comprehensive strategic plan to support diversity within Religious Life engagement for BIPOC students both undergraduate and graduate students.

The Associate Director offers culturally responsive experiential learning opportunities that support the mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Carolyn Barber Pierre Center for Intercultural Life. This position is instrumental in advocating with and fostering a strong sense of belonging, intercultural, and intracultural affinity across the Tulane campus community regardless of the undergraduate or graduate program a student is enrolled in. The Associate Director supervises a Senior Program Coordinator for the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
•Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.

•Excellent organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills

•Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as necessary in the performance of assigned duties.

•Demonstrated success supporting diverse student populations, especially spiritual communities, and graduate student cohorts at the master's and doctoral levels.

•Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and organization management software

•Ability to be flexible and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.

•Demonstrated experience assisting students transitioning to a university environment.

•Experience working & directly with underrepresented students in an undergraduate and graduate educational and co-curricular environment (including NPHC and affinity-based organizations, identity-based programs, graduate organizations, etc.)

•Experience supervising paraprofessionals and/or professional staff directly.

•Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and assessing co-curricular programs and experiences.

•Experience directly managing programmatic budgets.

•Experience serving both graduate and undergraduate student populations throughout their college experience.

SPECIAL REQUIRED ABILITY FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:

Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University's Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:

Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.

•Master's Degree and 2 years of related experiences.
OR

•Bachelor's Degree/equivalent and 5 years of directly related work experience.

•Master's Degree in student personnel, college student development, higher education, social work, or related field preferred

•Demonstrated experience with college/university students at various levels of their development.

•Proven experience creating, implementing & and assessing programs and/or services for underrepresented students with results of positive Impact on the student experience, retention, and sense of belonging.

•Experience working with student organizations and developing student leaders.

•Experience with trauma-informed approaches, racial identity development theory, and CRT theories such as intersectionality

•Conflict resolution experience

•Experience working with alumni.
