Overview

TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated

Project Engineer I

in

Kansas City, MO and/or St. Louis, MO

to support our commercial and industrial energy efficiency program implementation in the large local utility service territory. Projects and responsibilities may include energy engineering analyses, project QA/QC, on-site inspections, and customer meetings. Eligible candidates will be a hands-on, highly skilled resource and possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, green building and sustainability. Background and/or degrees in mechanical or energy engineering, sustainability and/or energy efficiency is preferred. The position is located in either Kansas City, MO or St. Louis, MO.

Responsibilities

Review calculations and assumptions used to estimate or measure savings due to energy efficiency and green building projects. Perform facility electric use analysis. Perform on-site inspections to verify installation of energy efficiency measures is consistent with designs and scopes of work. Deliver high quality reports requiring minimal quality control efforts. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines and client expectations. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and contractors to ensure that deliverables meet or exceed the customer's expectations. Provide answers to technical and program related questions. Establish and maintain high standards of work, communication, and deliverables. Be able to interact with client and third-party program evaluator.

Qualifications

Skills needed for this assignment include, but are not limited to: Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be a quick and eager learner of new material and think holistically through complex problems, with technical and non-technical components. Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style that works well in teams. Exceptional organizational, time-management and planning skills. Ability to work independently as well as the ability to work in a team atmosphere to collaborate with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key stakeholder groups. Proficient in Excel, specifically in macros or VBA. Preferred Qualifications: 2-15 years of engineering experience in or related to energy efficiency and/or renewable energy. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. Experience identifying operations and maintenance energy savings opportunities is preferred. Knowledge of building systems, such as lighting, HVAC, energy efficiency technologies, green building and high-performance design. Knowledge of relevant energy codes and standards. Experience in energy conservation measures work scope recommendations including measures such as energy management systems, HVAC upgrades, motors, lighting, building shell/envelope, appliances, and lighting. AEE or ASHRAE certifications are a plus (e.g. Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Building Energy Modeling Professional, etc.). Experience with energy modeling software a strong plus. Aptitude for communicating (written and oral) technical and program concepts to clients, contractors, consumers, and other interested people or organizations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills. Excellent computer skills: proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technologies. Valid driver's license; position entails travel, mostly within Eastern Kansas or Western Missouri. Legal ability to work in the U.S. Our Mission
