Directors of Commercial Lending (DCL) are responsible for leading all commercial business development efforts within a specified region. DCLs will have direct reports that consist of commercial loan officers (CLO) and, when applicable, Commercial Market Managers (CMM). This position reports directly to the Senior Lending Officer of Camden National Bank and is a member of the Banks Leadership Team.

Essential duties and responsibilities of the DCL include, but are not limited to:

Creating and implementing business plans that align with the overall objectives and goals of Camden National Bank.
Directing all sales activities for self and all direct reports.
Responsible for the overall credit quality of the markets commercial loan portfolio. Specifically, will work individually and directly with the CLOs in the market to ensure that lending policies are adhered to or, in the cases where there are exceptions, the increased risk is mitigated appropriately and the bank is compensated for the additional risk.
Working collaboratively with the Credit personnel and the Commercial Administration Team manager to ensure efficient workflow that leads to superior customer experiences.
Working collaboratively with the Retail Regional Manager to ensure that all personnel in the region are working collaboratively toward goals that are aligned with the overall goals and objectives of Camden National Bank.
Managing own efforts, as well as the efforts of other CLOs and CMMs within the region, toward meeting or exceeding targeted production goals.
Directly participating in the analysis of all self-generated loan opportunities, as well as those loan opportunities of other CLOs within the region that require or need additional oversight.
Actively participating in calling activities individually, as well as jointly with other CLOs, Credit personnel, Corporate Services personnel, and investment management personnel (i.e. AT and CFC representatives).
Coordinating, through attorneys and Commercial Administration Team personnel, the production of all commercial loan documentation for self-generated loans.
Actively managing, either directly or through the collaborative efforts of others within the Commercial Administration Team, all commercial loan relationships assigned to the DCL. This includes collection efforts when needed, credit file maintenance, site visits and loss mitigation efforts when applicable. Also leads the efforts of others within the region to do the same.
Frequently representing Camden National Bank at various business, community and social functions.
Being actively involved, at leadership level positions, with non-profits within the region or state.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly manages a team of CLOs within a region. In this capacity the DCL is responsible to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work efforts; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
May also manage the efforts of a Commercial Market Manager (see job description for Commercial Market Manager), with responsibilities similar to those above.
