DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Reporting to the President and a key executive on the senior management team, the Director of Finance for Ursuline Academy is responsible for the academy's business, financial, investment, and human resources functions.

Role and Responsibilities
•Guidance of Business & Financial Operations:
•Oversee the development, allocation, administration, and reporting of the operating budget and academy resources to the Academy's Board of Trustees, the auditors, federal, state, and local authorities, financial institutional initiatives, donors, and various Ursuline Academy administrative offices.
•Oversee all contractual arrangements for the Academy in consultation with the President.
•Assume administrative responsibility for the academy's endowment, providing appropriate information on invested funds and implementing decisions of the Foundation (coordinate with the endowment consultants, implementing effective endowment allocations)
•Oversee key professional or consulting staff of certain business functions, including the general counsel, consultant of human resources, and financial aspect of campus stores manager, including:
o Bank relationships, banking, budgeting, cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, tax returns, and compliance.
o Financial aspect of facilities management, with the director of the facilities and President.
o Delivery of food services management with the director of food services (SAGE) and the President.
o Along with the Business Manager and President, oversee employee relations, employment compliance, policies, employee compensation, pension, and welfare benefit plans.
o Oversee Business Manager who is responsible for accounts payable, payroll, cash deposits, employee benefits, safe environment & background check tracking, open enrollment, and employee onboarding.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the President.
Collaboration and Networking Responsibilities:
•Develop and maintain a highly collaborative working relationship with the President, to ensure cohesive messaging of the President's institutional strategic goals and objectives, including alternatives and the financial implications of long-range plans, for consideration by board committees and other constituencies.
•Develop and maintain a highly collaborative working relationship with the Board Officers and Committee Chairs, reporting academy status and ensuring board guidance is implemented as requested;
o Collaborates with Senior Administration, advising on budgetary and business operations.

•Administrative Duties:
•Assist the Executive Assistant to the President with coordinating agendas and meeting materials for the Finance Committee and Foundation Board.
•Produce journal entries and perform reconciliations; manage the Academy financial system, Blackbaud Financial Edge.
•Prepare financial statements and executive financial summary and present to the Board of Trustees finance committee.
•Produce monthly internal financial reports for the President and other key Academy Professional Staff.
•Work closely with the Academy's audit firm to perform and produce annual audits for both the Academy and the Foundation.
•Track and manage the Academy assets with Blackbaud Financial Edge.
•Track and reconcile the Foundation's scholarship and investment account.
•Oversee the Academy's business purchasing accounts, such as Sam's and Amazon.
•Work closely with the President to create a yearly budget.
•Manage Blackbaud Tuition Management software, which houses tuition and fees, "Buy Now" links, and optional purchases.
•Communicate and manage student registration. Create parent information packets containing tuition, financial assistance, and financial policy information. Assist parents with the setup of Blackbaud Tuition Management accounts for registration and tuition payments. Keep Admissions up-to-date on registration and paid enrollment numbers.
•Manage delinquent Tuition collections, follow up with parents, and create alternative payment plans, if necessary. Enforce financial policy and advise on needed changes to it in consultation with the President.
•Optimize efficiency, make recommendations for systems/process improvements, and assist other administrators as needed.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

Job Specifications
•BA in Accounting or degree in a related field required.
•5+ years of work experience in a financial and business leadership position
•Experience in a secondary school, college, or university setting preferred.
•Knowledge and experience in setting up and monitoring effective financial controls and proven financial modeling and forecasting skills
•Ability to use data and information effectively in planning and decision-making.
•Excellent leadership and communication skills and a demonstrated capacity to manage complex functions.
•Superior interpersonal, organizational, and managerial skills
•Possess a high degree of energy and flexibility.
•Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met, and goals are achieved with precision and efficiency.
•High level of diplomacy to manage interpersonal interactions.

Working Conditions
