FLSA STATUS:   Exempt/Full-Time                            SALARY:  $75,000/year

 

PRIMARY ROLE

Habitat for Humanity builds homes side-by-side with our community, tackling housing insecurity and providing families with opportunities for homeownership. The finance director works closely with the executive director to ensure the affiliate maintains its ability to carry out the mission, as defined in our strategic plan, and be a viable source of affordable mortgages in eastern Connecticut.


More specifically, the FD monitors cash flow, prepares financial statements, reports, and tracks HFHECT’s financial performance and outlook; and is responsible for preparation and maintenance of homeownership-related documents, while identifying both current and future risks and opportunities for the organization. The finance director also oversees the audit process.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

A bachelor’s degree preferred in nonprofit or business administration, accounting, or similar concentration. At least 3 years of experience in accounting practices, A/R, A/P, payroll, budgeting, contracts. 

 

OVERVIEW:

Working with a team-oriented focus, ability to multitask and meet deadlines, skilled in Microsoft Office and Sage (preferable) or QuickBooks, experience in high-level accounting. This position works closely with the executive director to ensure the mission and non-profit goals are met using sustainable practices. Candidates should have enthusiasm for working within a diverse group of teammates, local partners, donors, and other stakeholders, as well as speaking for and representing Habitat in the community. This position will supervise multiple part-time staff, assist with planning and attend Habitat events, oversee diligent record-keeping, pass criminal background checks, and perform other duties as assigned.

·Requires the physical ability to sit, climb a ladder, walk, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. While the offices are smoke-free and temperature controlled, much of the work may be in non-temperature-controlled conditions, including outdoors, year-round. 

·The position requires people to be able to safely lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on an occasional basis and/or to stand up to 6 hours.
