Description

Position Title: Mission & Culture Programs Coordinator (P-8)
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt 100% FTE, 11-month schedule of duties
Reports to: Director of Mission & Culture (P-8)
Rate of Pay: $28.84 to $36.06 an hour

Position Purpose: Shape and sustain the school's culture, fostering a deep, shared understanding and commitment to its mission and educational philosophy as articulated in the Goals & Criteria. Supports the recruitment, retention, and success of underrepresented faculty, staff, students, and families, also driving strategic initiatives to develop mission-driven, culturally responsive, and social programs that address both current and future student needs.

Essential Functions:
  • Supporting Programming for Underrepresented Communities with duties not limited to:
    • Coordinating targeted programs to support the social, emotional, and academic success of underrepresented students, educators, and community members.
    • Coordinating and expanding Middle School Affinity Space programming and events. Co-plan and attend Affinity Space Facilitator Meetings.
    • Coordinating logistics for the annual People of Color Conference, including teacher sign-up, accommodations, group events, pre-meetings, and debrief meetings.
    • Coordinating Educator of Color Affinity Space gatherings, the Big 8 Book Club, and other programming that supports adult learning and belonging.
    • Attending LMS DEIA Committee meetings and supporting initiatives and projects developed there.
    • Supporting the logistics and programming of the Afterschool Homework Club as needed.
    • Collaborating with OMCS Family Services Coordinator and Director of M&C to plan OMCS Family Nights throughout the year.
    • Staying current with research and trends in education and related fields.
    • Collaborating with the Office of Mission, Culture & Strategy (OMCS) to integrate relevant programming into the P-8 culture and attend regular OMCS meetings.
    • Assisting the school community in implementing culturally relevant activities, events, speakers, and lessons.
    • Creating and distributing Heritage Month materials and educational resources for the community.
    • Coordinating logistics for LMS Cultural Celebrations.
    • Providing support for relevant event setup and breakdown, including ordering, organizing, preparing materials, setting up space, breaking down space, and cleaning up.
    • Serving as a Middle School advisor for homeroom and advisory and attending relevant meetings.
    • Supporting orientation and onboarding efforts for students entering Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Sixth Grade.
    • With direction from the supervisor, collaborating with the Student Life team, Campus Minister, and Parents Association to develop inclusive, mission-aligned student liturgies, assemblies, and activities.
    • Chaperoning duties for field/overnight trips and events held after hours and/or on weekends may be assigned by Supervisor.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • BA degree required; MA degree in multicultural education, diversity, inclusion, equity, and/or justice strongly preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience coordinating events and programming
  • Proficient knowledge in Canva and Google Suite
  • Personal commitment to equity and inclusion that translates into actions within a school context
  • Deep understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and context associated with Sacred Heart Atherton's mission and educational philosophy as evidenced in Sacred Heart School's Goals & Criteria, and its identity as an independent, Catholic school
  • Eagerness to engage actively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English & Spanish supporting excellent interpersonal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to give and receive feedback
  • Demonstrated excellent punctuality and attendance
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Works in a fast moving and dynamic environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Must comply with all state vaccination requirements and show proof of vaccination including but not limited to COVID-19 or proof of eligibility for exemption.
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to occasionally and safely lift up to 30 lbs. and regularly lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment.
  • Must be able to regularly travel safely and comfortably across the 64 acre campus.
