Description
Summary/Objective:
Working collaboratively with CHJC's community-based programs, the Clinician is responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical services to clients and their families as well as clinical support to program staff. This includes the provision of Other Licensed Practitioner (OLP) Licensed Evaluations, treatment planning, evaluations of Medical Necessity, and as needed, OLP level individual, family, and group therapies including the use of evidence-based practices (EBP). The Clinician is responsible for formulating and implementing appropriate treatment strategies using EBPs for clients and their families, and for timely and satisfactory documentation of all treatment efforts.
To improve their level of functioning, OLP level therapeutic services involve direct psychotherapeutic services as well as clinical support to paraprofessional staff providing services for individuals with behavioral health needs. Duties are performed as part of an interdisciplinary mental health treatment team. The work is performed under the supervision of a senior licensed clinical staff who provides the Clinician with oversight and guidance in: assessment and evaluation, diagnosing utilizing DSM, collaborative and individualized treatment planning, completing psychosocial histories and progress notes, individual and group psychotherapy and consultation.
Essential Functions:
- Completes OLP/Intake Assessments and evaluations of Medical Necessity for youth referred/enrolled
- Develops individualized treatment plans and monitors progress toward treatment goals
- Provides clinical support and mentorship to service providers/paraprofessional staff
- Assists with staff development and regular evaluation of program staff
- Reviews all clinical/service provider documentation
- Participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings to discuss new cases and formulate treatment plans
- Provides psychotherapy to individuals, families and groups using evidence-based therapeutic methods, (services may be in the home, school, or another community-based setting)
- To arrange for supportive services for patients, makes referrals to a variety of health, social, vocational and educational agencies and facilities
- Provides emotional support needed by clients involved in the process of growth or change
- Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports such as patient treatment plans, case progress notes, referrals, letters, and treatment and discharge summaries
- Contacts patient's families and other collaterals to obtain information to assess and monitor patient's progress and treatment as appropriate
- Provides crisis interventions as necessary
- Actively develops clinical skills through supervision and CEU trainings
- Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned
- Provides on call responsibilities as part of an ongoing rotation
Special Requirements:
Work Environment: Office environment will require occasional travel to local schools, conferences and/or meetings and moderate travel within the community to include off-site/in-home visits. May have contact with service recipients that are agitated and/or are in crisis. Some risk involved working with service recipients with mental illness. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments.
Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of related office equipment including personal computers and printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, fax machines, etc.
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time, traditional hours required along with occasionally some non-traditional hours. This position is required to work on-site, and offsite/in home visits.
Travel:
Travel is required throughout service area (Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawerence County).
Required Education and Experience:
Licensure by the New York State Department of Education as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSW-R), or Licensed Psychologist. Must be trained/certified or willing to become trained, in Functional Family Therapy (FFT) or other equivalent EBP.

Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Ability to work with diverse populations. Must demonstrate effective and excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent time-management skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional. Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Must maintain privacy of confidential information. Successful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, reference checks, criminal background checks/fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. A valid NYS driver's license required. Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Security, and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination Training and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR will be required following date of hire.

Starting at $60,405.80
