Job Description:

The Project Director administers the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) grant to support initiatives surrounding reduction in Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking (DVDVSAS) through the creation of a Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) and implementation of a Climate Survey to inform strategic initiatives associated with the university Lotus Initiative for sexual assault prevention and intervention education.

The Project Director shall strengthen mandatory prevention/education programs related to DV/DAV/SA/ST and provide training to key participants. The Project Director works alongside the existing wellness and peer health education programs in the Sports, Recreation & Wellness department under the Division of Student Affairs. This position will support the Mount Wellness initiative through their responsibilities with the Climate Survey and CCRT informing prevention education, programming, resources, and awareness to promote an inclusive culture of safety on campus.

Work Location: Both Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles)

Expected Start Date: April 2024

Expected End Date: September 15, 2027

Salary Rate Range: $4,160.00/month

Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages the OVW grant project including budget, reporting, program evaluation, learning outcomes assessment and correspondence from the Department of Justice
  • Oversees implementation of activities, policies and protocols established based on the conditions of the grant while attending all OVW trainings mandated by the grant
  • Establishes and Chair a Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) to expand services to the Mount Saint Mary's University community working in collaboration with Campus Safety and Emergency Management and the Dean of Students Office to foster an inclusive culture of prevention and safety with cultural competency and understanding for the needs of diverse communities, especially first-generation students
  • Leads the Climate Survey project team in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Advancement and the Dean of Students Office to inform the development and implementation of strategies for prevention and intervention education in collaboration with the Lotus Initiative efforts
  • Programs and student learning outcome assessment related to the DVDVSAS programming, resources, and campaigns throughout the campus community in partnership with external and internal partners, highlighting programs for students
  • Strengthens and build partnerships with local victim service providers and law enforcement agencies to provide effective crisis response and long-term support and care for campus victims
  • Collaborates with Institutional Advancement, Student Involvement and Inclusion, the Center for Equity, Diversity, and Justice, Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Residential and Student Housing Services, and Campus Safety departments
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participates on various university committees and task forces as requested
  • Assists in campus Wellness or other activities as requested
  • Required to work some evenings and weekends
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:

Knowledge:
  • Competency in knowledge areas related to sexual assault, gender-based harassment, domestic violence and interpersonal misconduct theory and practices of prevention and intervention education
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts in relation to health and mental health as well as sexual and interpersonal relations and gender identity development
  • Knowledge of cultural, economic, and social influences on education and prevention models
  • Health education, promotion, and prevention practices
  • Climate or related assessment, program evaluation, research methods and design
  • Community based intervention and resource models for health and safety
Abilities and Skills:
  • Applicants for this position must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Applicants for this position must have skills in motivational interviewing and building rapport
  • Preferred applicants will be self-starting, organized and possess strong attention to detail
  • Ability to evaluate and assess crisis situations and determine proper course of action
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and evenings to support student well-being.
Education:
  • Master's degree preferred in education, psychology, social sciences, public health, social work, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree required
Experience:
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years of experience working in sexual assault prevention programs, research, community relations, or a related field
  • Successful experience with grant reporting
  • Demonstrated capabilities in prevention efforts in a campus environment.
  • Experience developing and leading educational programs for diverse populations on sensitive topics.
