The Company has recently expanded is growth into new battery technology and chemical plants to support the ever-growing expansion of Electrical vehicles.

Project:

The company is going to be awarded a huge installation project by the client, who is establishing newly production facility for lithium-ion battery in De Soto, Kansas. the clients lithium-ion battery will be used for EV production by Tesla, Inc. and other US manufacturers. The companys scope of work will be contracting for installation of production equipment at the client. As a general contractor, The company will set-up project site office inside and organize a field project team through cooperation with the company. The clients core engineer and project members are from Japan and most of production equipment vendors are Japanese vendors, thus communication in Japanese and knowledge of Japanese machinery standard etc. are important aspects of the project and requires certain support of the companyh.

In the production area’s point of view, the scope of work for the company is divided into Formation Area, Shipping Area, Interprocess Conveyance Area, Top Cap Area and QA/QC Area.

The Companys field project management team consists of mixture Japanese and American people. There are several important roles and job categories among total 20 people within the field project management team.

In this time, the company is looking for Assistant Area Supervisor, who is working in cooperation with Japanese Area Manager for certain production area. Depending on the timing and personnel skill and experience, The company will assign the exact production area for Assistant Area Supervisor.

Job Description

The Assistant Area Supervisor assists the Area Managers by managing designated field activities associated with the project and supervising designated field construction work done by subcontractors and employees. The Assistant Area Supervisor assists the project team to ensure the project is built on time, within budget, and safely in accordance with policies, procedures.

Also the Assistant Area Supervisor shall assist in coordinating all parties such as owner, authorities, suppliers, subcontractors, licensors and other related parties to achieve the project completion in timely and quality manner.

Essential Functions

Preconstruction Services

  • Participates in preconstruction planning, when possible, regarding the project schedule and budget.
  • Reviews project estimates and cost control system at the beginning of the project.
  • Arranges subcontractors and vendors to commence the work on site
  • Sets up the site condition such as preparation of necessary office, utilities and permits.

Project Start-up and Scheduling

  • Understands project specifications, the contract, and the contract’s general conditions; confirms that all materials and subcontract work comply with contract documents and quality specifications
  • Ensures all materials are properly tested according to specifications and will ensure all test results are properly recorded.
  • Supervises the site inspection which is arranged by subcontractors and vendors to maintain the quality of work.

Project Administration, Operations, and Close-Out

  • Directs and coordinates subcontractor and the companys field personnel in designated areas of expertise.
  • Assists Area Manager in communicating with subcontractors and employees a consistent level of expectations and direction regarding schedules, construction methods, company policies and procedures, permits, safety, quality control and other performance standards.
  • Collaborates with Area Manager to ensure project site and company assets are secure and always maintains a safe and respectful working environment by implementing safety, EEO, risk management, training, and quality control programs.
  • Attends daily/weekly project progress meetings with all subcontractor representatives and understands the upcoming days/week’s work to be accomplished.
  • Assists in ensuring the project closeout process is finalized to settle all financial obligations, demobilize all resources, and transit the project to the customer.
  • Arranges periodical safety walkthrough on the site with owner, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep the site in safe condition.

Project Financial Responsibilities

Reviews and updates progress and cost reports, schedules, and requirements for completion on a regular basis to support and assists Area Manager.

Promote Customer Relations

  • Builds effective relationships with customers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Construction Management, or a related field preferred especially for civil & building work for the factory construction, or a combination of experience and education.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the industrial/construction field.
  • Industrial construction or/and mechanical installation experience preferred.Familiarity with a wide variety of field concepts, practices, and proceduresWorking knowledge of construction contract language and termsAbility to make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Show attention to detail in all aspects of the job and have creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to apply OSHA safety standards.Exhibits commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and making necessary changes, using customer input to make improvements, and meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
  • Requires skills for reporting such as daily logs, monthly reports, etc. as well as clarification and update of progress reports.Working Environment:
  • Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office, trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the companys safety policies and as required for weather conditions.Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, and possible holidays as directed by Area Manager and project schedule to meet the customers’ deadlines.
