Senior Category Manager:
Position is responsible for managing the primary Center of Store categories including Candy, Snack & Grocery categories and is responsible for the vendor relationships including developing vendor strategies and negotiating national agreements. The position is responsible for working closely with Category Directors, Core-Mark OpCos, and cross functional teams within the corporate office in addition to vendor partners to maintain and optimize National Marketing programs and to identify improvement opportunities across the portfolio of categories.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Center of Store team, including Category Managers and Merchandise Coordinators
  • Partner and strategize with the Senior Director of Merchandise to drive increased sales and earned income
  • Direct negotiation of and leadership of Category Managers on annual vendor agreements and monthly promotions
  • Proactively develop and present compelling strategies and tactics that drive category sales and grow share by utilizing fact-based insights with internal and external partners
  • Grow the marketing programs to enable OpCos to help their independent customers grow their sales and increase competitive relevance
  • Develop new and unique programs fit for the future of the convenience retail channel
  • Engage with customers on opportunities to profitably grow center of store categories
  • Facilitate and assist the onboarding of new vendors and the continuous management of current vendors such as agreement changes, item creations, term changes, item transitions, billing inquires and more
  • Collaborate across the company to drive business goals and increase same store sales and independent store growth
  • Develop, review and update of corporate schematic programs for all assigned categories working with Retail Services team

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor's degree or comparable industry experience
•Minimum of 4 years of Category Management / data analytics / shopper marketing
•C-store, foodservice or food consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience highly preferred
