JOB OVERVIEW

The Staff Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and Finance and will be responsible for financial accounting and reporting activities. In this role, you will apply your understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting policies and controls. The successful candidate is an experienced accounting professional, a great communicator, a highly motivated self-starter, detail-oriented, skilled at time management and prioritization, and has a strong ability to problem solve. This position provides support to other team members and functions as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform month end close activities, including calculation of accruals and amortization of prepaid expenses.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Accounting Associate.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain fixed asset register, including monthly depreciation.
  • Manage motor vehicle loan repayments and maintain loan schedules.
  • Support and serve as back-up for the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions.
  • Research and perform analysis of changes in general ledger account balances / analysis of month and year-end results for management.
  • Actively participate in the development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly reporting to management and investors.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Suggest and assist in implementing improvements to current accounting processes and/or controls, including automation and streamlining of existing billing and commission functions.
  • Participate and coordinate responses to annual audit and tax requirements.
  • Participate in other projects and/or assignments as requested by management.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have strong understanding of basic accounting principles/GAAP standards.
  • Bachelor's degree from an Accredited 4-Year University. CPA is a plus.
  • Public accounting or related experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual, a self-starter with a high level of initiative and an attitude of willingness.
  • Must be a team player, willing to assist others at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work autonomously or with a team, within a vibrant and open office space.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and exercise strict confidentiality.
