**Job Category****:** Purchasing **Requisition Number****:** SENIO001412 Showing 1 location **ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** *may include any or all of the following.* * Ensure accuracy of purchase orders entered in system, including appropriate codes, contacts, shipping instructions, drawings, purchase descriptions, supplier information, quantities, and correct pricing.
* Utilize information from interviews, site visits, seminars, trade shows, Internet, commercial/technical publications, and other contacts to develop as well as maintain an effective vendor base to procure various equipment, materials, and supplies.
* Write and distribute complex and technical bid invitations, proposals, requests for quotes, receive and analyze bids, quotes, proposals, and award the contract.
* Review system generated planned orders for accuracy.
* Review, firm and approve requisitions.
* Identify special requests and develop/refine specifications for supplies or equipment.
* Acquire quotes for new items (including machined parts); enter quotes in system and company electronic filing system.
* Enter purchase orders for required materials. Request any necessary drawings or part(s) associated files and send to appropriate supplier via email, fax or call in.
* Review discrepancies on supplier acknowledgements and make any necessary changes to the purchase orders; notify appropriate Project Manager when changes to pricing or delivery affect overall job costing and completion date.
* Resolve purchasing problems between the department and vendor.
* Review supplier pricing and performance.
* Act as point person for changes in supplier pricing in computer system.
* Track major components by job.
* Keep up with supplier lead times.
* Assist lower-level Buyers with assigned tasks.
* Proven ability to interact with people, clear fluent expressive use of verbal and written language to convey information and ideas.
* Demonstrated skill in preparing and analyzing complex technical specifications and bids.
* Proven ability to maintain a consistent and positive customer service image, frequently under difficult conditions.
* Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, assign, and coordinate a workload.
* Demonstrated ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
* The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs and present numerical data effectively.
* Bachelors Degree and 5+ years of related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* MRP or ERP database experience, required.
* Industry related experience, preferred.
* Planning and scheduling experience, preferred.
