In partnership with the University of Maryland Express Care (MEC), Butler Medical Transport provides medical transport for the most critical patients in Maryland. The EMT EVO is part of the critical care team working with UMMC paramedics and nurses to serve as emergency vehicle operators stationed at Maryland Express Care offices in Baltimore, Easton, and Aberdeen. The EMT EVO is responsible for assisting the UMMS care team in transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. EMT EVOs are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and make a significant impact on patient's lives. The role of the EMT EVO demands excellent emergency vehicle operator skills, quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.

Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of an EMT EVO
  • Provide safe transport of the patient and crew
  • Respond to emergent and non-emergent transports
  • Provides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staff
  • Ability operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tablet
  • Completion of patient contact reports prior to shift completion
  • Ensure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readiness
  • Maintain cleanliness of station
  • Maintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEs
  • Remain current on all state protocols, policies, and/or procedures
  • Represent BMT at community events as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Graduation From High School or equivalent
  • 19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposes
  • Current NREMT EVO and State EMT EVO (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)
  • Two years of EMT experience
  • Two years of EVO experience with one year being on an ALS critical care team
  • Current AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Ability to provide quality patient care within scope of practice
  • Knowledge of all state protocols for an EMT EVO
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to drive company vehicles with a clean driving record
  • Successful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 days
  • Ability to pass a lift test of 150 - 200 pounds
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Ability to speak and write English

Salary Description

$25- $30 an hour including differential & bonuses
