Waynesboro, United States Ingevity Full time
Job Family Group:

Are you ready to do something remarkable? Ready to collaborate with an incredible team to solve problems that improve people's lives? Meet Ingevity.

At Ingevity, we develop innovations that purify, protect and enhance the world around us. Our products enable oil to flow better, crops to grow fuller, roads to last longer and ensure that the air we all breathe is cleaner.

Our people come from all different backgrounds and help reimagine new possibilities daily. We understand there is no challenge too big and no contribution too small. We seek out new ideas for tackling complex problems and celebrate achieving the improbable. We value each person's unique talents and synergize them to create meaningful impact and sustainable solutions for our customers and our world.

Bold. Energetic. Ingenious. Genuine. If these qualities describe you, we'd love for you to join Ingevity

This position will work independently and on project teams to improve process efficiency, reliability, safety, and quality using tools common to Lean Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies in discrete manufacturing. The position works in cooperation with the production team to help achieve excellence in all facets of the operation while demonstrating the Ingevity core behaviors of stewardship, performance excellence, innovative spirit, respect for the individual, and teamwork.

How you will impact Ingevity:
  • Engage with area engineers and operators to improve existing systems and processes using the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other improvement methodologies.
  • Lead teams on the plant floor to drive improvement in all areas of the business - safety, productivity, quality, environmental, maintenance, and cost reduction objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts for standardized work, quick changeover, development of pull systems, 5S/workplace organization, and visual management.
  • Use statistical data and various lean tools and practices to drive the development and implementation of projects to sustainably improve the quality of parts produced by the facility, as well as the efficiency and reliability of processes used to generate those parts.
  • Prepare reports with improvement recommendations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data. Maintain documentation (e.g., A3, Work Instructions) and records required for changes or improvements, such as management of change and pre-production process.
  • Analyze both failures and successes to ensure that sustainable and effective corrective and preventative action is taken to respond to plant concerns and customer complaints.
What you need to succeed:
  • B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated experience in defect reduction and/or process yield improvement preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (Green Belt or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Office applications experience required. Minitab or equivalent statistical software experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere, and with all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter; willingness to be hands-on with projects and drive them from imagination to implementation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, effectively prioritize workload, and be committed to continuous process improvement
  • This role is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. The successful candidate must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship to work in the US.
