Mountain View Hospital is looking for a MA/CMA/LPN/RN to join our team

JOB SUMMARY

MA/CMA/LPN Helps patients by providing clinical and business office assistance in the offices and clinics of health care providers, such as, physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists.
LPN/RN- provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting. He/she communicates with providers/nurse manager/co-workers as appropriate, about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic evaluation and changes in patient condition or symptomatology. The nurse will be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment, and avail his or herself of all training, skills and ability commonly developed through attainment of licensure in their field. The nurse may also have inventory/ordering responsibilities in addition to clinical responsibilities, and will expected to cross train in additional areas of clinic responsibilities including laboratory rapid assays, reception and radiographic studies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
LPN/RN

1. Work under direct supervision of MD, PA-C or NP to provide excellent patient care to all clients that come to Urgent Care.
2. Is able to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and performs reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric, the general patient population, and EMTALA appropriate medical screening exams.
3. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
4. Revises plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment.
5. Performs waived testing (point-of-care testing) per clinical laboratory's and the patient care unit's policies and procedures as needed when the lab tech is unavailable and performs tests in a timely manner.
6. Is able to interpret results of waived tests accurately, taking appropriate action on waived tests' results.
7. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
8. Is knowledgeable of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
9. Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
10. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
11. Capably assists providers with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
12. Is able to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
13. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.

14. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
15. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
16. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
17. consults other departments as appropriate for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
18. Communicates appropriately and clearly to nurse manager, co-workers and physicians.
19. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
20. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with Social Service regarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs.
21. Acts as a resource for other less experienced nursing staff to include additional staff educational duties as assigned.
22. Completes assigned supervisory duties as directed.
23. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
24. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
25. Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary by overseeing ancillary staff to ensure excellent care and service.
26. Is flexible, organized and functions under stressful situations.
27. Completes annual education requirements.
28. Maintains regulatory requirements.
29. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
30. Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
31. Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
32. Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
33. Attends at least 75% of staff meetings annually.
34. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
35. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
36. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
37. Flexible in scheduling, work weekends and holidays and work overtime when needed.
38. Maintain flexibility in a growing environment and be willing to grow, change and accept new duties as the scope of urgent care changes with the needs of the community and hospital.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: MA- High School diploma preferred. Prefer graduation of a post-secondary medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) Is a graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting program accredited by the National HealthCare Association (NHA) or its successor, the Committee on Allied Health Education (CAHEA), or its successor, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), and/or 6-12 month clinical experience or any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Board Certification Preferred. BLS certification.
CMA Is a graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting program accredited by the National HealthCare Association (NHA) or its successor, the Committee on Allied Health Education (CAHEA), or its successor, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or its successor; or any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Board Certification Preferred. AHA BLS certification within two weeks of hire. Completion of IV certification course preferred. If not federally or state IV certified required to take hospital IV start course in order to do venipunctures of any kind. RN/LPN: RN degree with BLS certification and to obtain both ACLS and PALS certification within 6 months of hire. LPN degree with associated IV therapy certification and drug administration certification within 60 days of hire, along with BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications as above. The LPN may substitute PEARS instead of PALS.

Experience: MA-Clinical Skills may be specific to the clinical setting but may include EKGs, respiratory testing, lab tests classified as "waived" under CLIA, and administering medication only by unit, or single dosage, or by a dosage calculated and verified by a healthcare practitioner. CMA/LPN/RN Clinical Skills may be specific to the clinical setting but may include capillary blood withdrawal, venipuncture, intradermal. Subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, EKGS, respiratory testing, lab tests classified as "waived" under CLIA, and administering medication only by unit, or single dosage. Dosage calculated medications must be verified by a healthcare practitioner. 6 months required experience, 2-5 yrs clinical experience preferred

Mathematical Skills: MA/CMA- Basic LPN/RN- Must be able to accurately calculate drug dosing and drip rates for IV therapy.
