Make The Right Move & Roll With UsSummary: This position is primarily responsible for managing the overall operation of the converting assets in a safe and efficient manner. Effectively manages the converting assets in order to produce a quality product consistent with product specifications and workmanship standards. Provides overall direction to the Converting Team Members to ensure a safe and efficient operation.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed:Provide shift leadership and direction in order to meet or exceed key metrics as defined by the business. It should be recognized that performance of the Converting Shift Manager position will be evaluated relative to these metrics. This position is eligible for the managerial bonus program.Demonstrate personal safety and help maintain a safe work environment for themselves and fellow members of the production team. Responsible for following all company safety rules and guidelines.Ensure quality standards and workmanship standards for Sellars products are met on a continuing basis.Understand and fully comply with the Sellars' concept of "move to the work." This means ensuring all tasks required to operate the line are efficiently executed by moving to relieve bottle necks, helping your teammates, and looking for ways to improve a process.Provide overall leadership on shift for all converting production personnel.Mentor and coach converting personnel to foster growth, cross training and capabilities of team.Is fully cross trained and deemed an expert on all converting assets, capable of teaching anyone how to properly operate each asset.Is able and expected to step-in when needed to perform any of the production responsibilities.Control and document the process using the appropriate Sellars' forms and tools as required for the specific positions.Execute daily production plan and report on converting line performance for shift, including production statistics, waste, maintenance needs, safety and personnel issues making sure they are accurate.Performs routine maintenance on each asset as needed.Assist Maintenance Technician(s) as required.Assist with special projects, in particular continuous improvement projects, as needed.Monitor and communicate adjustments to assets or other equipment.Effectively communicate with incoming and outgoing Converting Shift Managers, Converting Training Specialists, Maintenance, and all other personnel in a positive manner.Able to test all products using accepted quality procedures and equipment in a consistent and reliable way.Obtain and set up raw materials (vitals) as needed.Execute grade changes as required.Work according to team standards and guidelines and ensure quality standards are being achieved on an ongoing basis.Scrutinize and suggest improvements for all finished good specifications and operational systems. RequirementsKnowledge and Skills RequiredBasic understanding of overall DRC process.Able to problem solve (identify problem, define root cause, develop alternative solutions and select and implement most effective solution).Good understanding of 60th Street converting assets and how they function.Good mechanical aptitude.Proficient in computer spreadsheet and word processing.Language and Teamwork RequiredGood communication and coaching skills with the capability to deal with issues in a positive, complete manner.Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
