Responsibilities & Requirements:

Requirements:

  • A BS or BA degree and course requirements currently specified for the MT(ASCP) or the CT(ASCP), whichever is appropriate. Specialist certification desired.
  • Minimum Work Experience A minimum of four years experience or an MS with 3 years of experience. Consistently superior performance evaluations are required. Required Licenses [Ohio, United States] Other Certification by one of the following mechanisms is required: (ASCP) categoricalist certification or certification equivalent to ASCP in academic and clinical requirements.
  • MT(ASCP) or CT(ASCP) whichever is appropriate.

Responsibilities:

1.Specific knowledge of and outstanding ability to perform the tests and operate the instruments appropriate to the section and in the general field of Laboratory Medicine.

  1. In-depth knowledge of appropriate quality assurance procedures for the section.
  2. Ability to troubleshoot.
  3. Ability to perform or guide others in accuracy, precision, correlation, and normal range studies for the tests performed in the section.
  4. Current familiarity and understanding of appropriate accreditation and government regulations.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with other supervisors, employees,
  6. Respect for and commitment to the laboratory and the institution, and their policies.
  7. Ability to develop clear, accurate, grammatically correct reports or procedures.
  8. Knowledge of departmental and institutional policies, procedures, and organization.
  9. Ability to organize and set priorities.
  10. Provides leadership that encourages good morale and appropriate performance standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with KPN management and KHN technical and POC teams.
  • Validates devices according to KHN policies/procedures, writes procedures within regulatory standards, and works collaboratively with clinical staff.
  • Trains/competencies clinical staff in Point of Care testing and maintains compliance.
  • Maintains accreditation standards, quality control and inventory.
  • Maintains section in accordance with the goals and policies of the department and the institution.
  • Serves as inspector for CAP.
