Location Description:

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie" is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Systems Coordinator maintains the documentation critical for our Food Safety & HACCP plans and SQF Programs throughout the Lenox facility. This position verifies that the programs are being executed and develops and conducts training programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure quality, sanitation, and production records are in accordance with our Food Safety plans. Approves pre-shipment release of all CCPs and PCs for product release.
  2. Maintains and monitors all identified critical control points and preventative control points in the pasteurization and precooked areas to reduce the risk associated with each control point.
  3. Will be provided training to become a certified internal auditor. Train internal team annually, schedule the plant-wide internal audits, track and follow up on any corrective actions needed.
  4. Maintain FSQ related records (i.e. SQF training, internal audits, customer specific documentation, pest control)
  5. Communicates information related to the implementation and maintenance of the HACCP & Food Safety Plans.
  6. Provide the necessary support to the organization to ensure that all food safety plans, programs and initiatives are properly executed and maintained.
  7. Educate and instruct plant personnel in CCP and PC training at operator onboarding and annually.
  8. Consult with plant management and personnel on better operational procedures to improve overall food safety systems.
  9. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  10. Participate in customer and regulatory audits. Will present documentation and justification related to all FSQ records.
  11. Review and update monthly SQF trainings. Send each month to the plant and monitor tracking and completion.
  12. Participate in the approved supplier program. Provide documentation as needed by other MFI facilities.
  13. Assist in the drafting, revision, and maintenance of plant standard operating procedures.
  14. Provide coverage for floor FSQ technicians to include pre-cooked, processing, and liquid packaging.
  15. Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Two years experience in a food processing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Willing to go off site for needed training.

Examples of licenses, certificates, and registrations required within first 6 months to a year of employment.
