SEARCH DESCRIPTION: The University of New Haven is seeking to hire for the position of Senior Project Manager for the Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health Policy and Planning Committee (CBMHPPC). The CBMHPPC is a legislative body established in 2021 by House Bill No. 5433 and is charged with evaluating policies related to children’s behavioral and mental health in CT. The CBMHPPC Senior Project Manager is a full-time, grant funded position and works in a team with other TYJI staff and faculty to achieve the goals of the CBMHPPC. This position involves managing all planning, policy development, and special project activities associated with the work of the CBMHPPC and the TYJI. Supervision Received: The Senior Project Manager will work under the direction of the Associate Director of TYJI. Supervision Exercised: The Senior Project Manager will supervise the CBMJPPC Project Coordinator and student employees. Core Duties: This is a new position and updates may be needed within the first twelve months. Role and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: • Collaborate and work with the Associate Director of the Institute and other UNH faculty, staff, and students to achieve the goals of the CBMHPPC strategic plan. • Develop annual CBMHPPC workplan and process and identify key steps. • Scheduling CBMHPPC meetings, keeping minutes, creating agendas, creating materials for the meeting. • Coordinate, assist, and provide logistical support to CBMHPPC subcommittees by drafting agendas, PowerPoints, and other meeting material, and work collaboratively with TYJI on other meeting logistics. • Work with CBMHPPC subcommittees, staffing at least two subcommittees, to inform its recommendations, develop and implement the project plans. • Work with CBMHPPC subcommittees in researching best practices in the field of behavioral and mental health and draft reports as identified through legislation and or the CBMHPPC workplans. • Support the CBMHPPC in the development of a strategic plan integrating the recommendations identified in its initial report. • Assist CBMHPPC in establishing a time frame for reviewing and making follow-up reports on the status or progress of the committee’s recommendations and activities Review progress towards Committee’s goals and provide regular updates to the Chairs of the Committee. In addition, the CBMHPPC Senior Project Manager will: Understand project deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements. Have knowledge of multi-system and State Agencies. Have experience/practice in RBA (Results-Based Accountability) and evidence-based approaches as well as data driven decision-making. Candidate skill requirements: • Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing. • Excellent organizational skills for planning and scheduling. • Excellent time management skills. • Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task. • Excellent problem-solving skills and good judgment. • Self-awareness of personal and professional attributes and values that align with TYJI goals and deliverables. • Conscientious regarding professional demeanor, interaction, and timely attendance. • Media literacy skills in use of electronic technology. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Minimum Qualifications: • MSW with a focus on Policy and or Administration, community psychology or related degree with focus on policy and/or administration experience is desired. • Experience working in a related field (behavioral health, mental health, health systems, clinical). • Knowledge and experience in planning, research and program development • Ability to develop consensus among committees representing public, private, foundation, and advocacy groups. • Ability to work with and manage the use of outside consultants. • Ability to review research and integrate it into planning efforts. • Ability to conduct literature reviews. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Familiarity with current issues in behavioral and mental health. • Ability to make persuasive presentations to various interdisciplinary audiences. • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or other presentation software. • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and programs. • Experience in project management Additional Qualifications Desired: • Experience in leading committees. • Experience with state legislative processes.
